Management and trainig from the very beginning. Usually dogs that come from the same kennel have the same habits, clean or dirty because of management.

I think once a pup gets in the habit/used to dirtying it's crate, it's almost impossible to get them to "clean up their act" because that's what they've become accustomed to do. I've bought several pups in the past that came that way, and it was hell to pay to teach them that's NOT the correct thing to do!
