Dogs with black nose leather can have variation in intensity of pigment, just as they can with any other body part. Seasonal changes can affect how "black" a black nose can appear; typically darker in the summer or when they've been out in the sun. Paler in winter. Some dogs are sensitive to the chemicals in plastic food bowls, and eating from them causes the nose to take on a less black tint. There are other factors that can affect skin pigmentation on the nose.
Some genetically blue (dilute black) dogs have such full pigmentation their noses appear almost black, but it's clear the rest of the dog is not a black-pigmented specimen.
The only dogs that can have noses other than black, disbarring a medical condition or normal varience in pigment, are liver dogs, blue dogs, and dilute livers. These are serious faults in all show rings, and no dog of such colour could earn a V or Kkl1.
Not to go too deep into genetics but I think it worth adding:
Yes, I know white dogs can have black noses, but from a genetic standpoint white is a masking gene that negates the expected colour. in addition to a white dog with black pigment, it would be possible to have a white-appearing blue dog with a grey nose, a white-appearing liver with red, and a white-appearing dilute liver with a pink nose.

Hi Sunsilver, I had a post with links all typed out and then I lost it. Frik!
Some articles said Vit D (sun) and Vit B, more specifically Pabba. Another one said Vit E, most agreed diet as dogs in warmer climate can get snow nose also. They said mainly white or light dogs get it, however, I had a richly pigmented black blanket back that used to get it once and a while, unfortunately I can't remember what time of year. I also don't ever remember using plastic bowls.
The more I read, the more I think a lot of it is speculation. :)
