hips and elbows - Page 1

can anybody advise on whats the best age to get hips and elbows done   thank you

If you just want to prelim them than around a year but OFA will not stamp them until they are two so you would have to have them redone at 2.
But the prelims gives you an idea of what they are like before 2.

I just had both my girls prelimed at 11months and will go in for the final OFA Next January:)
 
 

You can also do the 'a' stamp at 12 months. 

I think waiting until they are 2 as OFA does gives a better idea of what they truely look like when mature. I've had at least one that looked marginal at 1yr and got GOOD as a rating at 2 years. Where are you located? If you're not in the USA, then not getting them done at 1yr. may make some showing problems for you? I still would put more weight on a 2yr old rating though, even if you have to get them done at 1yr to avoid problems, take a look at 2 again and see how they compare.

sorry dic im in the uk.my dog is 12 month old was told after 12 month hips start to get loose.i was thinking of waiting until he was fully mature before getting x-rays.advice welcome.first time

Does any one know for sure when (what year) hips and elbows were xrayed and recorded in eastern communist bloc? How far back in pedigrees can you be certain that the information is factual, especially here on PDB? Thanks.
