To me, it looks like it was filmed from a moving vehicle, eg. from a car window.

If I remember correctly, it was a camera mounted on a carrier which tracked alongside the movement of the dog, the same as movie camera's are mounted and move alongside 'action' shots.

Some of my friends with another breed are trying to figure out how to do it so we can look at gait in slow motion. The film is so steady that I have to think a carrier was used by a pro.

hello Blitzen. Don't know how it was done but it was done right.

If I was going to try and replicate this video, I would be sitting on the tail gate of a truck in front of the dog. Have no idea how they got the side video camera so stable. If it was on a vehicle only, there would be a lot of bounce. I do think it was "pro" produced.

Maybe the camera vechicle was on a very smooth paved road.

I think it would have had to be filmed by a pro using a carrier on a level paved road. The grass doesn't look quite "right" to me, as if there are several tracks. True to form, some of my AKC friends think Dingo moves on his hocks and is down in the pasterns, their general concensus of every GSD in the world. Not GSD people of course. I keep telling them they cannot see the footfall because of the grass. I am waiting to see slow mo's of their dogs.

For a dog who has been declared the best mover ever......I find it fascinating that his conformation photo looks N-O-T-H-I-N-G like the conformation of either the American show dog OR the German show dog of today??? Coincidence??

I wish I could remember exactly, but I think the set up was a 'trolly or dolly' on fixed tracks, like film cameramen use, which is why you get no bounce or wobble. I also believe it was located in a gulley that was lower thant the ground that Dingo was gaiting on.

Now that makes sense, Abby. Lucky for us his quality was recognized and filmed for history. I wish I knew how to stop that video when he's in full stride and copy just that one frame. Maybe someone has already done that?

Smiley, I think he looks to be a lot more athletic and agile than most of the top winning dogs today. I just love a GSD that looks that way.
