Hi,
I believe there are new rules regarding importing into the UK coming into play from Jan 2012. Can anyone please explain in laymans language?

Hi

This page on the Defra site explains all.

http://www.defra.gov.uk/news/2011/06/30/new-rules-pet-passports/

It will allow puppies to be imported into the UK at a minimum of 15 weeks of age as from January 1st 2012 without the need for blood tests and 6 months waiting period.  Requirement will be for a Passport, microchip and a valid rabies innoculation.  (21 days wait after a first rabies vaccination)The requirement for tapeworm treatment before travel is still under review.  These new regulations will bring the UK into line with the rest of Europe.

I state a minimum of 15 weeks of age because vets usually would not give a puppy a rabies innoculation until 12 weeks of age and then there is a wait of 21 days before travel.

Hope this helps
