I just want to share my "good deed of the month" with all. I'm an RN in a psych hospital, and this evening on my hour dinner break, I went to my "usual" hang-out for the hour, the PetsMart down the street. After buying a few doggy things, I was headed to my car in the parking lot when I noticed an elderly man 2 cars from my spot, and as he was getting in his car his 10 month old black lab "escaped" from the car and took off like a mad bullet, heading right for the street in front. Mind you, it's 6pm, rush hour traffic, raining and dark by now. The poor man immediately started calling for his dog, which of course was having a ball running here and there, and kept heading toward the 4 lanes of traffic. Being a black dog, and it was dark, I knew if he ran into the street it would be over for him, so I immediately grabbed a can of food from my bag and started calling the dog and trying to help the old man catch his juvenile delinquent of a dog. In about 10 mins, 3 other ladies saw the loose canine and also tried to help catch him. We all made a big "circle" around the parking lot, and all attempted to catch him, but he was having too much fun, LOL! I yelled at everyone to stop chasing him, that's what he wanted, and I sat down on a curb with my can of dog food, calling calmly to the dog, and after about 40 tense minutes he finally came slowly up to me, sniffing the food, and I eased up and got hold of his colllar. Sorry so long, but it just made my day to know I was instrumental in the capture of this wild young boy, and his poor elderly owner was soooo very grateful for all our help. See, we can actually be kind to one another, and help each other out. I couldn't imagine how I would have felt if that was me, and one of my dogs. We should always try to help each other out, I made this family's Thanksgiving! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Great story... glad everthing turned out HAPPY. Koodos to you for taking the time to help the older gentleman and his juvenile deliquent.
After reading this story, the only thing I could think was that sure sounded like something a lab would do.

Thanks for all your nice compliments all! I couldn't have slept with myself that night if I hadn't helped and known he had safely been caught.
