There is so much wrong with this post...
Has this dog been x-rayed hips and elbows?  Has he been tested for genetic diseases?  Is he titled?  are his parents titled?  At 16  months he won't have a Schutzhund 1 or been breed surveyed.  He needs at least both those things before even being considered for breeding.

Same for any female dog.

Most dogs should never be used for breeding.  They may be nice dogs.  They may even have nice lines.  It does not mean they will improve the breed or should be bred.

Oh boy...first of all, your dog's mother is not even on the database.....so in order to know genetics of all sides, one must at least have that information.

Second here are the SV rules for males and females if you want to be an ETHICAL breeder:

http://www.schaeferhund.de/site/typo3conf/ext/nf_downloads/pi1/passdownload.php

Breeding rules for the SV (in German...use Google Translate)

Basic SV breed requirements
Inbreeding of 2-2 or closer (breedings between litter mates or to their parents or grand parents) are not permitted.

Both dogs must have a minimumSchH1or IP1 or HGH training degree and the "a" stamp (Hip certificate).

The male must have completed his 24th month before he can be used as a stud dog, and may serve a maximum of 60 bitches annually, spaced evenly throughout the year. Artificial inseminations are not permitted.
A female must have completed her 20th month before she can be mated for the first time.

#1
Hips and elbows must not be displastic....

#2
Dog must be within the breed standard....

#3
Dog ought to have a working title AND a show title
(this prooves that the dog is within the breed standard).

#4 Genitic testing is a very large plus.
(rules out DM and other horrible desieses).

All of this being said,

The AKC doesn't have rules.......... so if you want to be a crappy puppy mill breeder then just go out an buy a female and let them at it........

You can sell them for $200.

Half will end up tied to a tree in some redneck's front  yard or dumped at the shelter when they're no longer cute.

You will have no respect from this community

You are the one that has to look at your own self in the mirror.

I've read a lot of threads on here now, I started out wanting to broaden my knowledge about a wonderful breed of dog and prepared to offer any kind of help and advice if I could. I sometimes despair at the superior attitude of some on here and wonder if any of these would treat their dogs the same way they treat other members. It doesn't take a great deal of effort to pass on your knowledge without patronising and downright insulting people in the process. The truth can hurt enough on its own without any need to ram it down their throats.

Just because certain individuals are not as informed as others it doesn't mean they can't be treated with respect and given the answers they're looking for without being villified.

Come on people, educate, don't assassinate.

do you not think its wrong that you all jump on board to bash him when he was only asking a question i do agree he needs to be top knotch but why does everything go on titles most poilce dogs and military dogs aint titled but there very good JMO

by Rass on 11 November 2011 - 14:11

He asked the rules.  Those were provided.

Titles are necessary to breed in the SV.  There is a reason for that.

Just because you like your dog or your dog is uhhh.. 16 months old and "humping ever" (sic) does not mean he should be bred.. and yeah.. that statement really did make me cringe.

Titles are one part of the equation (if you do it right.. and honestly) to help ascertain a dog or bitch's worthiness to breed.

Just because a dog or a bitch has the body parts to reproduce does not mean they ought to.  If that statement is jumping on someone it is not meant to.  It is just a truthful statement.

IMO (which is as valid as any opinion and not necessarily one anyone need agree to) puppies should not be put on the ground unless they are from parents that have been proven and the combination of the genetics from those parents are a serious attempt to improve or be an asset to  the breed.  And yes.. I mean the BREED not just the two individual dogs involved...

The police dogs I know about are titled and certified and often dual purpose as well.   I merely translated the SV rules.

As to why...because my time rescuing German Shepherds that were beaten, starved, tied up for years because no one wanted to or could handle them, thrown away, has told me that we have enough ENOUGH dogs out there without having people who don't have the full lineage of their dogs breeding.  I have cried so many tears, nursed so many broken bodies, tried to heal so many damaged psyches that telling someone what the SV rules are is not something I think is out of line.
