Haha, somehow I ended up pushing "enter" before even completing the thread title, and then the thread was posted.  It was suppose to say, "Who Got Their SchH1 This Weekend?  Robby Did!!!"

Anyways, as the title alludes to, H.O.T Robby and I got a SchH1 this weekend!!!  Since the club I train with isn't an official club, I had to drive 4.5 hours to Central Alabama's SchH Club trial.  Met some awesome people there, especially Chris and Garry, who worked with Robby the night before to get him running the blinds.  It was our first time every working there.

Tracking and obedience left much to be desired.  I guess tracking wasn't too bad considering we weren't prepared for a track that ended up being aged 40+ mins before we got to it, on the side and crest of a small hill on windy morning.

Protection was decent.  90 pts.  Ran up to the first blind, peeked in, but didn't go around.  Lossed points there.  The first time Robby ever saw/worked the trial helper was during the B&H of the protection routine.  He had great outs; chewy grips at first (he gets that way on new, hard trial sleeves), but the grip during the courage test and drive were deep and calm.  Guarding after the bites was pretty good with nice intense barks.  Overall, I was very very happy with his protection!

Video ended up being a HD blur because I didn't teach the camera man how to focus the lens.  I can post it later.

Thanks yall, we had a good time and I learned quite a bit.

Here are my tips for SchH1 that I learned this weekend.

Tracking:
I had no idea our track would end up aging for 40+ mins.  Definitely be more than prepared for longer than the minimum aging (15-20 mins).
Pointing to the track and giving a search command is a big no no.
Articles must be different material.
If you see your dog at the article and about to leave it without indicating, tell the dog to down.  Once the dog passes the article, its an automatic 10 pt deduction.  Telling the dog to down is also an automatic 10 pt deduction.  So if you're going to lose 10 points either way, might as well give the dog the correct in hopes that he/she will remember to indicate the last article.

Obedience:
Don't expect a dog that is doing retrieves over the obstacles at his/her home field to do them at an away field.  Definitely want to practice the a-frame and jump at the new field.
Don't laugh when you throw the dumbbell and hits the top of the a-frame and tumbles forward.  The dog may think that was his/her retrieve command and go retrieve prematurely

Protection:
Don't expect a dog that is running the blinds at his/her home field to understand how to do a blind search on the new field.  Definitely want to give the dog bites in the blind in the new field if you can.
