I went in to edit some former posts and the system suddenly said the posts were "too old" to edit.  The day before I had done it and it was ok and now not.  Why?

Not sure but I see you went back to September 27 and changed posts. A month and a half is not long enough? I will strongly ask Oli to change edit times to only 2 hours for all forums. This is the exact reason we have limited it in the first place. People change a threads meaning when they go back a month and a half and delete posts that they now have changed their minds about.

If people would think about what they post before hitting submit it would help.

How long do you want to be able to edit? Forever?

I was attacked off this list by some "big shot" in schutzhund when I talked about a wonderful old dog.  I was ridiculed about this dog.  So, I decided to remove all  or most of my posts here.   There is one here where I really tried to help dogs with cancer and I have seriously thought about removing most of that post also.  Why help fools???

So, we should allow people to make posts and then when they are questioned off list we should allow them to come in and delete all their posts?

"I was attacked off this list by some "big shot" in schutzhund"  so why does that change what you posted about the stolen dog? Because someone questioned you, you decide to delete all your posts. What about what that does to the threads?

I do not even understand the reasoning behind this. Because a person questioned you about a "wonderful old dog", you are then going to remove all your posts?

"Why help fools???" Because of one person, now all the rest of the users here are fools. Okay.

It seems sometimes you get a few hours to edit a post and other times a week or more.  I've gone back to correct grammar and spelling errors and have not found a consistent time frame.

Slamdunc    Me too !!  It is not consistant.  And when you ask like this poster did, you get made to feel like an idiot.  ??????

Its not just you. I have gone back to fix spelling or grammer errors and do not get a consitant time frame to do so.... sometimes it is only a couple hours, other times it is a week or so later.

The reason I cannot give you an exact time is because I do not know it. I have asked but have never been given an exact amount of time. I do know that the GSD forum is the old system and probably has a different time but all the rest should be the same.

She was not made to feel like an idiot. She went back and changed whole pages of threads that had nothing to do with what she is upset about. So, yahoo and google (cached version) have what was said but the site that it originated off of has nothing. Not good and to me it is wrong.

Then after going back a month and a half she starts this thread instead of just PMing me or another admin to ask.

I understand; it is frustrating when some one goes back and deletes posts or changes them after they thought better about what they wrote.  Then when you reference those deleted posts no one knows what you are talking about.
