I've seen some info about feeding dogs eggs, I know I can feed her a hard boiled egg... But can she eat them raw? Am I suppose to feed her the shell and all, or is that bad for her? Seems like the shell would hurt her... I don't know, help me please, lol. Thank you!

Are you feeding raw diet?..it's ok to feed her eggs, some might be allergic..boiled is ok, if raw, the only problem is that it can have Salmonella , just wash your hands thoroughly before and after. The shell has some calcium,so yes it's ok,it won't hurt her. I would be careful if it's a puppy, she will be more susceptible to infection, diarrhea or adverse reaction to salmonella . Good luck

I thought about going RAW, but wouldn't even know where to start.
She is about 13 weeks, very healthy! I will make sure to boil them and give her the egg with shell too. Her ears need a little extra help, so the calcium will be great!! Thank you so much for the info! If you can refer me to a good site to learn about RAW feeding, I would really appreciate it! Thank you!!

Raw eggs contain an enzyme that impedes protein metabolism. Cooking the eggs or even just running them under hot tap water for several minutes will neutralize that enzyme.

A few raw eggs weekly, shell and all is very beneficial. I wouldn't concern myself with your dog getting salmonella. If you are just supplementing a kibble diet, feed the whole raw eggs separately. Too many raw eggs can be an issue as Keith mentioned. I feed raw and give a whole raw egg with dinner 2 or 3 times a week. As with any raw meat you prepare to cook for yourself, wash your hands afterward and clean the counter. I feed my dogs outside and do not have an issue with them eating their raw diet in the house.

Hard boiled eggs are in most cases more beneficial then raw eggs, since they are easier digestible then raw eggs. Proteins are broken down by heat and thus easier accessible to digestion and also the surface of the crushed hard boiled eggs is bigger and thus more accessible to digestive juices. While on raw eggs which assume surfaces close to sphere which have for the volume the smallest possible surface thus the digestible juices have smaller area to work on.
Also I am not against feeding raw eggs, but keep in mind that salmonella is not really much of a problem because dogs are usually quite resistant to it and many if not most dogs carry salmonella permanently in their gut. The bigger danger in my opinion is the porous shell of the egg which may contain giardia and other bacteria like coccidia from feces of the chicken.
Thus I would not necessarily recommend raw egg with shell as some do here.
As I said I am not against it just have all the facts and asses the risks, before you do.
