I'm a first time GSD owner, I got my puppy about a month ago. I was told she was are purebred, but her markings are very unusual. If you guys could shed some light as to if she could be pure or a mix, I would really appreciate it! She is such a great puppy, smart, and so sweet. Also, I'd love some advice on getting her ears up. I am posting via my phone, if you go to my profile you can view pictures of her.

Congrates on your new puppy!
That picture does not show much, but from what I see it could very well be pure bred.
She looks pretty young so I would not worry about he ears yet.
Enjoy her!!

Congrats on your pup! I hope you enjoy the breed as much as I do!

As far as the pup's origins, do you know about the sire/dam? Does she have any papers? These can help determine if she is purebred of not.

From the picture, I cannot tell of any unusual markings. When I got my pup, she had a litle white on two feet and on her chest, but as she grew, they faded out and her red became more abundant. She seems really young, so I wouldn't worry about her ears just yet. I had the same worry with mine, but hers stand so great now! As for the markings, what do you find unusual about them?

The general public thinks anything other than a black/tan saddle back is a mixed breed.  Then there are some people who think solid blacks are "rare", there are people who think a solid black GSD is mixed with a black lab, and many think some of the sables are coyotes (not sure how they get that).  Many people don't even know that Shepherds come in black, black sable, bi color, etc.  Your pup could very well be a purebred GSD.

She looks pure bred to me......very nice pup.
Her coloration is more of a working line then show line and that may be where your confusion lies....

Look like a typical German Shepherd puppy-her color will probably change as she sheds her puppy coat and probably will be either a saddleback or blanket-time will tell. Her ears will raise and fall as she goes through teething so you have quite some time before you need to worry on that-were you able to view the sire and dam-or see photos?

Thanks everyone!! I really appreciate all the replies. She has brindle or sable like markings on her legs and face. I've never seen it in a GSD... People keep asking what she is, or telling me she looks like a Rott, lab, hound....etc. She really looks unique and is absolutely gorgeous. I don't care if she is pure or not, I will love her no matter what! I have just always wanted a GSD. I never got any paper work or got a chance to see her parents, I got her from a classified post, her previous owner didn't want her bc she bites... (Normal puppy behavior)

remione1 Sif is beautiful! Hopefully Fallon will look like her. :) Also, she is just now losing her puppy fuzz, her coat is super shiney, and a little wavey down her back. I am looking forward to losing those puppy teeth...OUCH!
