VitoManiac

Just registered after reading the forum for weeks prior to and after buying my new puppy. This site has been invaluable and given me so much information, I've had a few GSD'S before, the last being one of two that I found dumped in a plastic bag at 5 weeks of age and managed to nurture through to ensure they had long and happy lives.

Onto Major, I've now had him for a fortnight.

He's nearly 14 weeks now and is already fairly large. He weighed 12.5kg at 12 weeks, and 14.2kg at 13 weeks but appears to have grown a fair bit in the last week or so. He's proved to be very quick to housetrain, he comes to me and tries to nudge me indicating he wants to relieve himself and is already walking to heel and sitting automatically when I stop. He does get distracted by people and other dogs but early days and I'm very pleased with his progress so far.

His parents are Sujay's Striker of Wickedyoukay (Sire) and Limasmythe Emma's Gem at Myema (Dam) and is a real credit to his breeders, John and Chris Smith from Leicestershire, I can't thank them enough for giving me such a beauty.

I'll post some photos as he develops if that isn't too presumptuous of me, I'd appreciate any feedback during that time.

Many thanks for looking,

Dave

Some more photos of Major. He's now totally housetrained, no accidents for two weeks and he always wakes me up if he wants to go out overnight, he's been an absolute pleasure to work with so far, all the basic commands were taken on with ease, I'm now looking into the training required to use him for what he was intended for.

He's 14 weeks in the top one and 16 weeks in the bottom two and now weighing 18kg.

He's a good looking little male! Are you planning on doing anything with him?

He's from a good working line so I'm hoping to do something with him, not sure what yet, I guess it all depends on how his obedience training goes to be honest. I could do with some advice on how to proceed maybe even link up with other owners in or around Southampton UK.

Hiya Dave,Welcome to this forum.I am owned by 2 gsds(showlines)but i have started attending at working sport club which meets every Sunday near Dover Kent.Dont know if this is too far for u to travel. You could search The German Shepherd League of Great Britain n scroll down to their WORKING PAGE  for lists of Schutzund n working trial clubs or perhaps the Kennel Club.Good luck with Vito.Carole Spelman(Rheinmeister gsds)Sorry should read GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG LEAGUE OF G.B.

Thanks for the kind comments, it's always nice to know that other owners like the look of a dog you own.

I've looked for Schutzund clubs and it seems the nearest to me is at least a couple of hours drive so maybe I might have to champion the cause for one in the south and south-west of England, I'm sure there must be plenty of potential members here.
