Our one year old female gsd began limping (front right leg) off and on. She only limps when she is walking (but not all of the time) and never limps when she is running or jumping. Took her to the vet and he thinks she either pulled a muscle or has a deep bruise. So he put her on an anti-inflammatory and pain meds. Plus, we can't let her run for a week. That is going to be like holding back the tide. LOL! So we are keeping her inside.
Has anyone ele's dog had a similar injury?

Sounds more like Pano. Did your vet do x-rays to rule that out?

Thanks Elkorr. I also wondered about that. Vet did not xray, but said he will if there is no improvement in one week.

I was watching my neighbor's 3 yo lab for a week and she was doing something similar, limping on and off during walks. Some days she wouldn't limp at all. After about two weeks of that, the vet finally decided to X-ray and he found a hair line fracture on her tibia. No clue whatsoever how that happened. She fully stopped limping in about a month. HTH.

Not my GSD but my Border Collie now 11½ months old, I thought he had injured his leg the first time I noticed him lame, but it turned out to be OCD in both shoulders. He went through intermittant lameness of varying degrees and varying lengths of time for 3 or 4 months, perhaps going 3 weeks not limping. At first my vet thought it was carpal growing pains as he was a bit touchy in his wrists.... but no reaction when shoulder/elbow was manipulated, when I finally managed to get him to the vet while still lame [he never showed any lameness for 3 visits, it miraculously disappeared] - he did react to shoulder manipulation, so he was x-rayed
The x-rays showed that he had OCD in both shoulders, but he only had the lameness in his left leg. He was operated on by keyhole surgery end of September and is still in 'recuperation' period and right from the day after the op, he has shown no lameness at all.
OCD is common in both the shoulders & the elbows in a GSD... OCD in the shoulder can be dealt with by arthroscopy but OCD in the elbow can't.
Hope your dog is OK soon.

Thanks everyone. After staying inside all weekend, she is not limping. She will stay indoors all week.
