This is my 2 1/2 year old male shepherd. I got him back when I didn't know much about shepherds, and is a backyard bred dog (something I know not to do ever again), but of course I love him regardless :)
I've brought him a long way since then, with his bitework and obedience, and his "lines" haven't mattered to me at all but I am curious as to what everyone's opinion is.
Many people have said he looks like a bi working line (there is no pedigree to look at obviously) and I guess I agree... just thought I'd ask a few more people. Here are some photos...

He definitely appears to be Working Line with possibly some Showlines/American lines. You should never feel like this Pup is Less than any other Shepherd from a so-called Professional Breeder. He appears to be a Great looking Dog with many good qualities.

Very handsome guy & looks like a sweet heart. He looks like American lines to me, maybe crossed with some WL's.

He's a very handsome guy! Lucky you, to have found such a good looking companion! And sometimes smaller hobby breeders are actually trying to do good. Of course I don't know what your boys situation was, but he looks very nice to me. Workinglines! jackie harris

I definitely see no nor anything "show" on this dog, but i'll describe it as a handsome WL. This further proved that WL and SL are two different strains of one gsd.

Do you have his pedigree on here? Or in hand?

Definitely, without at doubt, "WL"...which stands for "Well Loved"...and that's really what's most important :-).

He may have some American show lines mixed in, but I'd have to see a photo of him in a stack to be sure. The angulation would give it away. His head definitely looks WL by the colour, but WLs generally have smaller ears than that!
I don't think his pigment is red enough for him to have any German showline blood. My bitch is a mix of German showline and American showline, and she's red as a fox!
