I was giving my new black male a bath yesterday & noticed between his toes he had brown / red fur along his webbing. I then noticed a very thin patch of brown / red hairs along the back lower side of his front legs. If I wasn't moving the hairs around on his legs & paws I never would have noticed this. If you look at him he appears solid black, only when you move is fur on those certain very small spots would you see any other color. But would this really make him a true bi-color?

If im not mistaking, I believe this would still be considered solid black. I have heard that alot of black dogs have some tan bleeding though on the feet.

But we will let the experts chime in...

Lift up his tail and see if the vent is black or brown.

If it is black, the brown between his toes and the little bit on the back of his legs, is just bleed through and he is solid black.

Pharaoh has gold in between his toes.  He is solid black and his parents were both black sable (carrying the solid black gene).

I've owned three black GSD's and all of them have had red/brown fur in the webbing of their paws. I never noticed it anywhere else on their coat.
