Marketing skills are everything.................

I am curious - I am not in show.......but do the girlz just show up and work the dog in the ring?         is this possible without knowing the dog...........   So, you enter you dog - and say hey girlz handle my dog...........and then they grab the lead  - maybe some double handling with the owner - and then BAM         your dog is prancing around a ring?

I am not saying this with disrespect - you just have been promoting your girlz for handling and I was wondering how it worked.........

HI THERE, No offence taken. The girlz are pro handlers. They are not my personal relatives. They are handlers that a very dear friend of mine introduced me to,as she is very close friends with them & there mother. She hires them to Show for her with wonderful results.I can say nothing but excellence is what these young ladies strive for.I put there phone number on my post so that other GSD fanciers that are going to NASS could have the option to call that number ASAP before the girlz become totally booked.Interested parties need to know.Sincerely TGSAMEMBER

Our dogs are trained to work correctly in the ring. We do this from the time they are young puppies. We teach them to stack, to pull correctly on a leash, to accept others on the end of the leash. We condition them and encourage them to take ground covering steps. They know what to and not to do and all that's left is for us to keep them motivated when they tire by double handling.  We meet up with the handlers before the show and let handler and dog meet each other and they go around the ring a few times.....and the handler and dog know what to do...There's a whole lot that goes on behind the scenes. We call it "ring training".

As Veteran GSD people we all know. There are some great handlers out there that will meet up with you at the Shows, if they already have animals that are entered & will work with your Dog/Pup briefly to get an idea of what this animal is like & how to present said animal.Which there is nothing wrong with that at all. But!!! We prefer our 4 legged kids to have a personal relationship with our choice in handlers. We feel that if our 4 legged kids have a personal relationship with there handlers ,they are happy to see them ,know what to expect as they are familiar with that handler, therefore are willing to give there all & then some more. That is why I am promoting these 2 young ladies ,they have an awesome track record & they are high achievers in most all venues regarding SV Competitions. They've been to NASS before, did great & are fearless. The 2 girlz from Haus Of Rock German Shepherds have love for the breed & stamina to make it happen. All I know is -Our boy now [ SG Titled ] CASTLEBROOKS AARON VOM HAUS TORI ALLE STERNE,P.I. has been exhibited very sparringly, only 2 times as a matter of fact by Monica & Whitney Bendt .Both times were in the trophies because of his interaction from puppyhood to now with the girlz.

They showed my dog at the same show, working line male 13 months old, never been shown in SV before (just a few UKC puppy matches).  They asked me to get him out before the show, they kind of pet him up a bit to see how he was, then we did some practice laps around the right and they checked to make sure he would be OK for stacking.  I've never really done ring training with this dog yet as I have no one else to help me, but I have always practiced stacking him so he knows to stand still.  He's a very social and confident dog, so he had fun!

There IS skill involved!  First they have to hold the lead and collar a certain way that is best for the dog.  Some dogs choke off if it's too high, some dogs like my show line male need some stern pops to get them under control and moving right.  They need to figure out at what pace to move to show off the dog.  They also direct the double handler (me) where to be, how far ahead, and when to call the dog.  Then they have to stack the dog properly, present the bite, etc. The double handler should really only concern themselves with the direction of the handler, but the handler has to be paying attention to the double handler, the dog, and of course the judge.

I have observed the Bendt girls at many shows and feel they have proper ring etiquette, always making eye contact with the judge, smiling (not screaming at the dogs or double handlers like some people do), always quickly getting the dog stacked and presented so the judge isn't waiting or skipping over your dog.  I've seen some more well known handlers behaving in my opinion inappropriately and it not affecting the dog's position so I'm not sure it really matters as far as the outcome, but it matters to me.  If I'm paying the handler, then I will pay the one I feel is presenting dogs as they should be with proper ring etiquette.  Even if my dog is acting up or not having his best day I want him to be presented as if he is already the winner and I am always pleased with his performance.

Some dogs take to this without any practice because they naturally gait free and keep their heads high.  Other dogs need a lot of practice. My young working line dog actually showed MUCH better even being his first show than my more experience show line male usually does.  My show line male uses all his power from the front so his head is lower and he tends to really bear down in front whereas my working line male shows better collection and power in the rear so he can move balanced and carry his head up.

Kathy, Monica, Whitney Bendt and Debbie,
Words can not express our gratitude for preparing our 9 dogs on the very short notice before the NASS this year and then handling them so professionally during the show. It was a pleasure to meet all you and the entire experience was nothing short of spectacular. We thank you so much for everything you have done and it is because of you that our dogs received 2 VP2s and SG1, SG2, SG4, SG5 and SG6 this year. You should be proud of your great work and your level of experience. We are sure to use your services in the future. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. Rafael
