You people are only guessing the reason this Dog was purchased for, and most of it is pure Crap talking,
The Dog was bought to breed from that is certain, What becomes of it after its breeding life is over that is anyones guess probably no different to what happens to most older Dogs past there money making days are over with breeders in the USA and Europe.
One thing that makes me smile in these threads with you Americans is this. You are forever getting little digs in towards an older poster i being one myself, But i can assure you that i for one can still function very well above average in ALL departments.
I do wonder how you look at your Grandparents you must look down on them at times with pity for getting Old.
One day if you live that long you also will be a Grand daddy age, then if your mind is as sharp as mine is to think back of how you looked down at the older Person.
It is no good saying otherwise it has been bought up too often to deny that a lot on here seem to think older people are all senile and should be seen but not heard and in fact are a joke.
I do wonder where this world will finish up with some of you Guys in charge, a bloody good spell in the forces for both Men and Women in the front line would open your eyes and straighten many out. However most of you would never then reach the Grand daddy or Grand Ma age you would  be dead.

Pricey - Oh you are addressing me (Abby Normal) as Katrina???? Well that's a new one for you LOL, now I know it's true! you really have lost the plot.  Ask Mr P, we went through this a long time ago (pm's and everything!), and he knows now who I am not, but he still hasn't found out who I am, (though he's still trying!!) so I guess for you and one or two others in the white and spiteful brigade it probably is quite hard to grasp LOL. Remember Pricey - me Abby Normal, you Priceless.

I see your posts, as ever, have nothing whatever to do with the topic, you just come along and dish out a little nastiness. Grow up man for heavens sake.

Let's try and get you to actually comment on the content now.

Think it through first.....do you think China bought Larus (at a little under 6 yrs old) just for looking at, or do you think they bought him to breed from?

by bazza on 03 September 2011 - 08:09

Steve, so very true, old age comes to everyone and I for one am proud to be  Granddad.
Morning Katrina my little cup cake. Nasty I don't do, truthful, yes. I believe my comment on steaks was on topic as the topic was about why the Chinese had bought Larus? The topic then went on to suggest that he was bought to breed for the food chain, RIDICULOUS suggestion but none the less that was the topic of conversation. Or did you not read ALL the comments as usual? Just jump in there when you see a name you think you can stir up some shit with? Are you missing your usual sparring partner, noticed you just had to bring him into this thread, now that is obsessive, lol. And do please make your mind up, one minute I'm a Granda then I need to grow up!! PRICELESS!!
Now remember YOU Katrina, Me Bazza, lmfao.

PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Steve....as I have a 16 year old grandchild along with 5 other grandchildren; as an American, I agree with you wholeheartedly. And I still work dogs!

Gustav
Then i guess you are around my age, The youngsters have been bought up to have much more than we had as Kids, In fact we had no toys at all only the ones we made for ourselves.
That taught us a great deal in respecting material things and people and certainly we were bought up to respect the older folk.  But today all those values are gone, I guess it is Dog eat Dog so to speak with the last generation and the present one.
Not all but a great deal of those generations. However there time will come if they reach our age.
Glad to here you still enjoy the Dogs, Mine do not seem to bother that i am a oldster they work just the same.

I am not young, though not yet a grand. My responsible 20 year old is not ready for that stage of life, and my other is much younger ;) I am a 43 model. I will reply about the rude comments made about my name in this post as well. Yes, 8 years into the gsd, I am still a newbie with the breed. I am new as yet to conformation shows. I am however not a newbie to working dogs and have done so in sar and other venues since the 1983 with a different breed. I just love how people call out rude things about me being a newb when their presence here is newer than mine. I just do not change names or have multiple personality disorder on here like so many others ;) Okay break time over back to work.

Priceless - follow......the thread developed into whether or not Larus had been producing puppies (not for what reason). Dog1 suggested not. The facts presented by Jantie suggest differently, doing the math supports jantie's numbers. OK , here’s how it went:

Jantie As always, Dog1 has no clue.
He wrote: "If you recall Larus was sold at the very end of his breeding career. He may not have even produced a litter in China."
Ask people who do know!. I have checked my copy of the Chinese Database just now, and Larus has produced 1.456 pups in all, so for China until today 1.456 - 700 (in Germany - see SV-Genetics) = 756! I repeat: 756 offspring in China. Just to make sure you can all read this and there is no typo here. Thus Larus has produced more in China than in Germany.
(see how this changed the context?)

Dog1
So this 6 year old male at the end of his breeding career goes to China and manages to produce over 700 offspring in a country with not as many breeders as Germany. It took him 4 years to produce 700 in Germany at the height of his demand. How old was he when he finally finished breeding the 700 in China?

Bazza: So there you have it folks.....a mad man on a mission and Katrina, that world wide renowned authoritarian on all things GSD, lmfao!! They have spoken so the rest can be quiet now, lol. Odd couple, don't ya think? But they do have a few things in common....a deep seated dislike for anything SV, breeders, show world and most importantly TUNNEL VISION, LOL.
PRICELESS, PRICELESS, and let me hear it one more time.........EFFING PRICELESS.
Jantie Quote!! "I posted this for people like Yellow Rose" Now that comment speaks volumes, lmfao.

So Priceless, perhaps you understand now how the thread had developed?  Pick out the mature posts from the above LOL.  Priceless you really do have no clue, you claim you speak the truth - how wrong can you be!  Here's some answers for you to help you in future:-  Many good friends of mine are breeders, some of them on here, but as we know not all breeders are created equal, it's a little like deed not breed, just substitute the word breeder! So, I don't have a deep dislike for ALL breeders . A deep seated dislike of the SV? As with the KC in the UK, the SV do not always measure up, I make a personal judgement on what is good or bad about the SV by what they do, same as the UK KC. I liked the fact that they commissioned th back study, did you read it BTW?? I like the fact that they acknowledge there is a problem with construction, I don't like that they do not support that statement by appropriate judging, although some say that is beginning to happen. Does that count as a deep seated dislike of anything SV?   Showing, no secret that I prefer the working dog body shape and ability. I don't believe that showing for it's own sake (ignoring working ability) is good for the breed, nor the fact that showing has encouraged exaggeration.   BTW still waiting to back up the claims you made on another thread about me -  disappeared, couldn't back up your story LOL......

So who is the mad man you refer to ?

BTW, there was some very un-grandpa like language in there LOL. Nice to see that some could communicate without resorting to the same.

Just jump in there when you see a name you think you can stir up some shit with?

Priceless, this is what you are doing every time you see me comment on a thread. Care to elaborate on this latest wild accusation and point out what name I 'thought' I could stir up some sh*t with???? I was expressing an opinion man - good grief. More than I can say for you, as you are just jumping in and stirring - like the last time whenever you see my name (which is Abby by the way, the only twist is on the second name, the significance of which has always escaped you!)

I can't understand why you seem unable grasp the fact that this is what these forums are for. People are allowed to comment on these threads. Whether you like them or agree with them is frankly, irrelevant, and there I see no cause to be so unpleasant.
I've said before, if you disagree, why don't you state why you disagree.
You behave like you're in the playground - You can't be in my gang if you don't do what I say........................priceless. I see you learned well at your masters knee with the BIG RED LETTERS LOL.

You still didn't answer the fundamental question, do you think China bought Larus to look at or breed from?

edited to add :  in fact the original poster did not mention anything about the dog being sold to China and being eaten. That came from another poster later on.

by bazza on 04 September 2011 - 10:09

Katrina love, calm down and give your typing finger a rest. Now once again, for your benefit, My comment about why Larus was sold(old news by the way) was on topic. Before you turned this thread into all about you it was suggested the dog was for the food chain, breeding puppies for human consumption.
"Many good friends of mine are breeders, some of them on here" LOL, that's why none of these so called breeder friends EVER come on and agree with any of the nonsense you type???? PRICELESS.
Now KATRINA you have 545 posts here since you accuse me of jumping in whenever I see your name could you link me to my 545 posts where I "jumped in"?
Normally when I see your name I read, laugh, shake my head, and ignore the crap you spew. But guaranteed 95% of your comments are on a thread that Videx starts or has contributed to. You and your ilk are one of the main reasons the UK members no longer post here!!!
And yes KATRINA I am fully aware that the forum is for opinions and comments and that includes mine, don't like it? TOUGH!!!
Finally Katrina I can't understand why you keep saying that ABBY is your name, and NORMAL you aint, lol. On second thoughts maybe I can understand why you keep denying you are called KATRINA. PRICELESS!!

You have a nice day KATRINA ya hear!!

Abby Normal

Priceless
I had a GREAT day, thank you! Typing finger all rested now having been at a 'show' all day today with a showline GSD no less (good heavens, whatever next).

On topic originally - no. On topic now - no, each answer like a wriggly worm. Please do feel free to continue to shake your head, laugh and do something else, I fear no-one will notice.

Not thinking it through again - breeders do not openly comment on 'contentious' issues or other breeders, it isn't good for 'friendly relations' at shows. PM's, emails and that good old fashioned thing, the phone on the other hand are still well used methods of communication.

Yes, it has been very pleasant on here lately (with the odd exception), I had noticed. I think that you attributing that to me is assuming that these people you speak of (and read their minds)pay much attention to my posts, and is attributing rather too much importance to me, I am sure some will be most offended by the suggestion LOL.  Some may just be keeping a 'low profile' for reasons best known to themselves.  I've also noticed the improvement since Ollie cleaned it up with mods.

So, who was the mad man you were referring to again?
