Dear Madam ( OK serious loss of brownie points for calling me madam I'm 41 not dead),
I like to buy trained shppard from your kennel.( I don't breed dogs....) Puppy trained for protection only please. Will look at pups to 14 weeks old.  I have not owned a dog before, but need a guard dog.  (OK but I don't do PP ...)  I know only natural instinct is needed with these dogs so I would not be expected to pay more for a trained one.  ( umm excuse me... I havent been able to successfully PP train a 14 week old pup protection yet..he he) i will pay high dollar up to 1000.00 . Please e-mail me back with your available pups.

Ok well I WAS going to respond with an educational e-mail on GSD behavior etc. Hubby says ignore the email.

Anyone have what he is looking for LOL!!!!(sarcasm)

Just have to hunt around my breeder friends and see if anyone has a fully trained baby that farts unicorns..... now where to start.

Hubby is right.......ignore the email.

The way it's written sounds like a scammer to me.

I don't know that I'd be able to resist answering back. You have some serious willpower :).

Trust me the urge is strong!!!!  Sadly where I live we have LOTS of foriegners who watch programs like the dog whisperer and then assume that dogs do not need training just "a quiet calm pack leader" .  They also do not understand dogs at all.  Jumping up, barking peeing in the house and the dog is put outside on a chain and left there.  So it is very hard not to respond as I believe in educating people.  This fellow will find a dog and the dog will be doomed. Be interesting if Pirates Lair gets the same e-mail as we live pretty close

Since his future dog is already doomed, I could check to see if the biter in my obedience class is for sale. He's a known biter so I'm sure he'd make an awesome personal protection dog. (LOL)

I had someone call me recently about boarding their dog long term. They were going on a mission trip with their church ( a VERY large, beautiful church not far from here). They needed to board the dog for about 8 weeks and were willing to spend up to $200. I told them that my weekly rate was $245 but that I might be able to meet them halfway and charge $215. She meant $200 for the entire 8 weeks!!! She tried to appeal to me "as a Christian" (now how would she assume that I wondered). I told her that maybe the church should take up a donation since it seemed to me this expense was a by-product of a church mission. I also had to make it clear that long term boarders were actually more work for me, not less since most of them get kind of nutty after the 3rd week or so and start developing issues that we have to work hard to make sure don't become a problem later on.

Anyway, people just crack me up.

But joe blow boards/trains cheaper... ya well they also dont take the care that i do... also the dog gets trained here and doesnt at joe blows...ya gets what ya pays for :)

"Hi, my name is Kristey and I am responding to Super Black and Red German Shepherd Puppy From Excellent Lines on Marketplace on Facebook.
Please tell me if this is still available. And how much money is each one ? And i need a female, my price range is 200$ and lower."

My reply
"Your offer is insulting!
If this is all you wish to afford, then what happens if the pup gets sick, injures herself or needs vaccinations……."

Lordy even pooperdoodles are 900.00 where i live.  Why do people feel a registered animal would be less than that?  200.00 let's see i can get one month of Fortis for that.  Hmm One week of groceries ( I have a teen son if you are wondering :)  Gas to Vancouver and back.  Hmm that's about it or i could get 20 sacks of ginch from Walmart but not a dog. Even the SPCA charges more than that for adoption here...sheesh

SitasMom, send 'em to animal control. ;-)

I'd reply. I couldn't resist the laugh. They probably want it shipped to Ethiopia.
