OK all, I'm looking for dogs from my lines. I've been breeding American/German outcrosses for 30 years and I had just about had the dogs where I wanted them. I still had the ability to herd, they were wonderful show dogs and obedience dogs and they've worked in law enforcement, narcotics and search and rescue. My last litter, von Goodrich's "T" litter had 6 dogs in it. Two were sold to a friend who later died, one by a car crash and one by probable poisoning. I had two--von Goodrich's Tacoma and von Goodrich's Talisman, RN. These two had not yet been bred as I have been waiting for a bitch for a year. There were two bitches also sold, von Goodrich's Tanzy and von Goodrich's Tessa. Tanzy was sold to a woman in Kingston, MA and has since been resold as the woman is dying of cancer. She may have been bred to a dog in Plympton, MA. I'm not sure about Tessa. The other litter that may have progeny out there is my "R" litter. von Goodrich's Nostradamus was bred to several bitches from Plymouth, MA. There was also his brother, von Goodrich's Narragansett that sired a litter and may have some progeny somewhere. These were very special lines and they cannot be reproduced because the dogs and kennels behind them no longer exist. The lines go back to Bernd Kallengarten, Bernd Lierberg, the Piastendamns, L-Wienerau, one arm with GV Lance of Fran-Jo, ROM in it (I minimized it), some linebreeding on CH. Phantom v. Liebarland, CH. Carolon's UFO, the old Yoncalla's Mike and a few other GSD's of note. These dogs are late maturing animals and at 5 years of age, both Charlie (von Goodrich's Tacoma) and Bullwinkle (von Goodrich's Talisman, RN) were ready to go out and knock the socks off of people. Bullwinkle and his half-sister, von Goodrich's Star Dancer (Mira) had gaits that would take your breath away. They were that good. I had managed to have a line that had few hip problems, indeed my D-Litter (Can/SKC CH. von Goodrich's Dragon Dancer, OFA, von Goodrich's Damma D'Amore, OFA, Can CH. von Goodrich's Desiree, OFA as well as the rest of the D-litter) OFA'd out. They were sired by Can/SKC CH. von Goodrich's Charlie West, Am/Can, CD, HT, CGC, OFA whose dam was Can CH. Grafenwalds' Ilse v. Goodrich, Am/Can CD. The Grafenwald lines were structurely sound animals.
So if anybody knows of anybody who has any of my lines, please contact me. Also, for those of you that may live in VT or MA if you know anything about the kennel fire being set, i.e. who did it, please contact the VT state police in Royalton, VT or the VT State Arson Line. This was a horrible, horrible, horrible thing to do. None of these dogs deserved to die in this manner. Thanks.
PS, Do not confuse me with "Goodrich's" whatever. We are two separate entities.
I can't be of any help, but just wanted to extend my condolences on your tragic loss. May you find some small kernal of comfort in the knowledge that the smoke and heat would have rendered the dogs unconscious *very* quickly, and they passed unaware of the horror of the flames. (Learned this from sad, personal experience, unfortunately.)
I dearly hope the arsonist(s) are caught, prosecuted, found guilty and then punished as harshly and severely as the law will permit (which still wouldn't be enough punishment, IMO).
Thank you for your condolences. I, too, hope that the person(s) responsible for this are caught. Hexe, thank you for your thoughts. I hope that they did pass quickly, but I believe that the boys, especially Bullwinkle who was pretty much intact, was the last to die and fought to the end. Michele, thank you also for your kind words. I see you have pictures of black GSD's. Do you have the Phantom lines per chance?
