Peggy and your husband, Quite a number of us have become involved in your new situation with Rex, following your Posts. Hopefully you will not feel embarrassed or a failure. You TRIED your best. More importantly you clearly cared a great deal for Rex. To the extent that you were not going to let him go. Spent time talking with Yellow Rose. Then when you saw how Rex reacted to the departure of YR, you put aside your own personal feelings for him (which must have been difficult, but showed your love for him) - and decided that Rex should be back with Yellow Rose.
From a previous message, is it possible that you could secure your home more? Do you have someone in your local Police Department who gives advice on how to safeguard home and personal property, and outwit possible Intruders?
With Kind Regards to you both, and the loving decision you made.

Ibrahim, Thank you for your kind comment. Plus indicating your care towards a couple experiencing 'hands on' living with a GSD. I am sure they all shared emotional tears between them.
Kindest Regards,

Peggy, I bet there is the perfect dog just waiting for you in the shelter. It might not even be a GSD, but there is a dog right now, without a home, who would love to be your dog!

Yes' Beetree i second that, I hope these two Oldsters do not give up on getting a Dog there is one out there waiting for them to give it a very nice kind Home and i think they are the right two people to do just that a lonely Dog will be lucky to have them as its friend.
And the Shelters are full of them give one a chance a dog deserves it so do you two Guys. Let us know if you get one with Pic's

soft showline was probably too smart, a nice lazy shelter dog would probably be a better choice lol better give a dog another chance then have it killed at a high kill shelter there is so many unwanted good dogs out there that would make great house pets
the lady wanted a pet dog she just wasnt a right match for this one

Steve1: You ought to be , for your past time and leisure time ....A STAND UP COMEDIAN" or as I often tell people "How about a SIT DOWN COMEDIAN"
OLDSTERS describes a vast amount of us.. I am included in that group now. My kids are almost too much for me, with 30 plus years of experience.!!!
JEFF and DESTINY:
"Soft Showline too much and too smart" ....Both of these statements correct.
Another bit of proof that I knew REX was too much , at this time, because he was totally a one LADY dog, was that he ESCAPED from their back yard one day , out the side gate , that was not secured with what I call...cowclips.. THE Ones you hang your keys on your belt with. I advised them THurs . that they must secure all gates and doors. Germans are famous escape artists with a thousand pounds of bite ability in jaws.
Husband had to chase , REX in full trot down the street , paying no mind to his caller, and around the corner to a yard where REX found a lady, a child and a puppy.
GUESS what REX did? HE went to the lady and the kids, licking one or the other , and then husband was able to sneak up on REX and secure him..
SECOND ESCAPE: A few days before I arrived, REX decided the front door could be his next route to freedom.. THIS is a big etched expensive glass door and REX simple put his nose, his head and his paws to work...OUT THE DOOR HE WENT>
Peggy had to get in the car , and go after him. She has neuropathy in her feet so she cannot run.
Between the two, a block or so down the same route , they caught up to him.. AS I discovered this.., REX was inside as I left , making it known,,my Yellowrose is not leaving without me. THIS is when the two decided .REX may never bond with them. THEY laid aside their feeling for REX as everyone loves him. I have had many people say to me , I will take that one, when they come for a pup..OF course, at those ,times, I was not ready to place anyone in a retirement home...lol
I think a young pup age of 9 to 12 months would be more the age and of non working kind, for them . THEIR home is well secured, THEY have alarm system on all the time and bars on windows and double heavy doors on entrances.. Beautiful home and nice gorgeous flowers in front and a nice fenced back yard. THEY have not had a dog in 30 yrs so the new adventure for all of us OLDSTERS , can be a challenge.

It could be that you took my post regarding OLDSTERS the wrong way or i am taking your post above in the same way, if so then i guess it is the difference between the European side and where you live.
Where i live which is Belgium Older folk INCLUDING myself are referred to as OLDSTERS. and they do not mean it in a nasty way at all quite the opposite it is an expression of looking up to such people with respect for there age and being more wise than the younger people,
However as it seems one must choose there words very careful on these Forums for it is easy to upset some folk with just an expression in a word. MY apologies if the word OLDSTERS has upset some of you Folk who are getting on a bit in life regards your age, Perhaps i should have said more MATURE people, But i live in a country and i pick up there sayings and they are not unkind saying at all
