Family is divided on which name to choose for a female German shepherd pup. She is of mostly unknown background, a companion dog so choosing a name from her lines is not possible. Since our family was divided half and half on the name we asked 2 friends, one chose one name, the other chose the other name. So now I ask all of you! The choices are Cynder (cinder) or Nikira. She is from a black and tan momma & a bi color father. Currently she is mostly black with ash gray legs and neck, although we know she will change :)

how do you pronounce the second name?
by missyjord on 23 June 2011 - 15:06
The second name is pronounced nigh-kear-uh
Hope that helps. Our previous shepherds were Aschyra Rae and Chaos, not that it has any bearing on the new shepherd though :)

I like Nikira....sounds more feminine yet almost exotic....
would she be Kira for short?....
Cinder...not a bad name but reminds me of Cinderella...too girly and too preppy unless thats what you are going for.

Cynder.
It's easier to call two syllables "Cyn-der!" than three "Ni-Kir-a!"

Hmmm I can see this is going to be more difficult than I thought. :) the suggestion to combine the names and call her Cyndra is tempting!
Definitely don't want "girly or preppy", I'm looking for unusual, strong, unique.
Maybe someone has other suggestions?

i like both names,Cynder i would use for a sable n nikira for B/G OR B/T.I,m with the suggestion of combining the 2 .....CYNDRA.I too like to use unusual names. As i watch animal programs i tend to write down any unusual names i hear the game wardens call lions/tigers etc.My show girlie at the moment is called CHIKI.(cheeky)as she was a very cheeky puppy, she,s 8 n half now.Have got a cool name for my next little girlie shep. Its a gaelic(irish)word that a tortoise was named on a program we sometimes have here in the UK,called Murder she wrote.well better stop waffling on.Let us know wot u choose n good luck with your little girlie.Carole Spelman(UK)
