I have a new bitch coming soon to the country...approx. 8 hr flight for her,no layovers. She should come into season in 4 months. My question is whether it is too soon to breed her after moving to a new home? I want what is best for her . I am also going on the assumption that she is settled in. If not I will not breed her. Any thoughts? She has 3 previous litters. Thank you

I've never had a dog take that long to settle in. I guess my main concern would be her age and when she was bred last. Good luck!

IF the bitch is in good condition and has been checked over with your vet and all is well with her and has settled with you then I feel that you could breed her if you want

Christ, if the bitch comes into heat, breed her! What't the big deal?

Gsdlvr2, I agree with an above post that if she arrives healthy, then she could be bred soon after she arrives. She should be able to acclimate herself to new surroundings within one (1) month. The stress of moving may cause her heat cycle to be delayed one (1) month or so, that's the only thing that I could see happening. And that is not a serious thing. Bob-O

The bitch is only going on 4 yrs. old and she's already had 3 litters ! I would find out when she had her last litter. If shes skipped a season when you get her, she can be bred if alls well. do what you think is right. when you get an import, it does take awhile for them to adjust. i would say at least a month, but if shes titled it will take longer for her to bond with you and to take orders from you.

She will settle for sure. Dont be over protective thats all. And yes go ahead and breed at her next heat. If you say 4 months then she must have just finished a heat. If so, why didnt you mate her and bring her over? I have bitches mated there and producing here three weeks after the litter and there never has been a problem. Do ask the breeder/owner of any peculiarities she has during/after whelping just so that you are prepared. Best of luck.
