Finally he is barking on command - Page 1

Now I know that its not a big deal to most but I have been struggling with this for like 6 months with my boy.  I tried everything.  I had even resulted to barking at him to see if he would mock me.  Well from day one if I just held the ball in front of him he would just give me that intense stare, didn't matter how much I tried to motivate he just stared at me with that look like common just give me the damn ball.  Well today...I said speak next thing you know he is going crazzzzy with the bark.  So I thought well it was luck.  Well it wasn't he has got it.  I am so proud of him.  Seems like the things that you would think would be easy to train are not and the things that seem difficult turns out to be easy.  LOL.....

I may be a bit naive here, but why do you want your dog to bark at you on command
In all my years of owning Dogs i have never done that, what is your reason for wanting the dog to bark at you.
If the Helper is taunting him with the Tug or Pillow that is a different thing entirely

I asked you a simple question in reply to your post It is better to answer straight out than beat about the bush if you get what i mean
Why do you want your Dog to bark at you, For what need and for what reason are you trying to teach it to do it

I personaly want my dog to know how to bark on command because I have seen other dogs do it and I think that it is a fun trick to train.  Now just to clarify I am not teaching my dog nor do I want my dog to be aggressive towards me.  When I teach him this he is in prey drive the entire time.  Alll he wants is the ball.  Now he has no problem flipping the switch when there is a helper involved and we are doing protection and that is not what he is doing. I also wanted to teach him to speak for the ball because to me it means that he is focused and energetic.  And that my friend is what my goal was with it.  I also plan to build on the fact that he now speaks on command and when he wants to go outside and instead of just sitting at the door to let me know that he needs to go out he will also be required to sit and thene bark once and thene he can go out. 

Carry on teaching hin to bark on command, BUT'Do not forget to teach him to Bark TWICE to come back indoors, That will save you the job of looking to see if he has finished what he was doing

I have found this useful for one of my dogs.  Although she is well house broken, when she wants to go out to "use it" she will first give me the look then go to the front door.  Out of preference I want her to bark to go out.

So I trained her to bark on command.  Then everytime she went out to "use it" I gave her the bard command.  After a few times she made the asscoiation and now barks to go out.
