Hi Wolf, Isn't that nice ....... for once it's called SELLERS BEWARE ...... guess we should call Britt to the rescue ! ;-) There is no solution to it, what are you going to do, sue them ? No sense in that. You know how that goes, you receive a lot of mails, stating they are soooo interested in your pups and they really like to buy one and what is the price ?? They just want to figure out how much you charge, but have not the guts just to plain simply ask. So you spent a considerable amount of time writing back and you will never ever hear from them again. It made me upset in the beginning, not anymore. I figured to get upset & to waste time is just to much....so i rather just waste time ! Best Regards to Rome ! Ulli Dresbach

I might not be the good useful help with this, as I have never done any kind of business in dog related before.. However here are my opinions of what you need to do… Top Solution to end timewasters 1. Request Phone number/ Snail mail addresses and ISP/private/business domain emails (I personally find it unprofessional to use free emailing account for business) 2. Put up the price listings of your available dogs/puppies. I admit that I was once guilty of this… But some people are researching the price value of a dog and how much people are charging. 3. If the emailer doesn’t sound a bit interesting (Only sent you “Wow cute puppies, what’s the price? i.e., Not wanting to explain why they want your puppies/dogs”) and you feel that it isn’t worth your time… Just delete the email... A serious person would have an interesting story to tell you. 4. Highly encourage the seller to stop by your place, Even if it comes to traveling into another county... remember a serious buyer(s) would do anything to buy a puppy from you. I’m sure that an experienced breeder who done business online could explain the deal with you and could somehow generate a useful and useless email… or possible share you bunch of emails that they received that was not worth the breeders time. The most helpful part is to NOT get overly excited when somebody is interested in your puppies.

Over the years I've learned to spot certain clues in conversations or emails that help prepare me to realize folks might be "kicking tires" or "window shopping". You may begin to recognize some familiar cues as well. Some people have severe personlity flaws that prevent them from making a concrete decisions. These poor decision makers are also, most times, poor puppy buyers. Belive me, when this kind of thing happens, I thank G*d that he spared me and my dog the experience of dealing with someone who can't make up their mind, is inconsiderate and unfeeling toward my time. As breeders we have only minimal information to make a decision if we will sell to someone. Consider it a blessing that the woman backed out. A better home awaits your dog.

Maybe this will help, everytime I have imported a dog I was required to wire the money into the sellers account before they wasted time making arrangements, I suppose to see if I was serious. After that they made shipping plans. I am not exactly sure if you are asking about shipping or time wasters with inquiries. Good luck

I personally write back and forth a few times then its time to talk on the phone. That usually weeds out most "tire kickers"(puppy kickers just doesnt sound right LOL")The few that go forward with the phone conversations are usually serious puppy buyers.

If you think it is getting as serious as that...ie getting all the papers lined up. Then ask for a deposit. Especially if it is non refundable, this will make the commiment for you. In other words... put your money where your mouth is. Debby

This is the nature of doing business. Professionalism demands a degree of patience and willingness to work with prospective customers until they (and/or friends) are prepared to commit. After being in business for many years I am constantly amazed at how many people do not understand the value of first class customer service with a view towards long term reputation and repeat business. I know it is frustrating. I have had people back out of substantial contracts after I made considerable personnel shifts in order to accomodate them. I was polite and gracious, and agreed to work with their circumstances. In every case they came back later with more patronage and referrals.

jdh a good point. Customer service is a big problem these days everywhere. I always am gracious even when things dont work out.Its called being patient. You never know when being nasty will come back to haunt you. You only get one reputation.

Being patient is pretty much all you can do. jdh, it sure is nice if you get a feedback as you described it - it's just most of the time not like that. In our days it seems pretty common to cheat other peopel out of their money, or not to stand behind your own words. Ican still remember a time where a mans word counted like it was written, at least in the dogworld. Now you have guys you sometimes even train with that pulll such a BS on you. On top of it they have an attitude that triggers my temper to go off.... Geee, does becoming an old fart start at 42 ?? Regards Ulli Dresbach
