I would like to hear some comments and opinions on this dogs pigment/color.Personally I like it, and think it is very nice.Very different and unique.But is it weak and washed out?

Nice dog but I personally prefer a darker more reddish/brown undercoat on sable dogs. There's nothing wrong with his pigment he just has pale color.
Pigment refers to the black areas (top-coat (on sable's), saddle, blanket, mask, tail, lips, nose, eye rims, and toenails)which are all fine on this dog. Color refers to the coloration of the non-black areas (rich=red/brown/mahogany vs pale=light tan, silver, white) on their unercoat/legs for sable dogs.

As I understood, and I may be wrong so correct me if I am, darker is better.The only reason that she caught my eye was because to me her coat is really unique and quite beautiful even if it is pale.I guess it's because it's just so different.Get some sleep GSDfan, I have dealt with the 3rd shift blues before, lol.

In general yes darker is better, I believe very light color is described as permissable though not desired. I think it would be more of an issue if pigment was lacking, which its not.

Pigment is a one-generation "fix."
