Who actually by law is the owner of a dog on breeding terms?
is it the person who's name is on the registration (ie breeder) or is it the person who has brought up the dog, trained it, fed it and paid for everything?
Do Breeding contracts actually stand up in a court of law?

Providing you have a written contract it will stand up in court.
Verbal contracts are not usually upheld.

the legal owner is the name on the akc or other registration papers. You will need to get a POA if you are breeding a dog that is not owned by y ou, if you want to retain rights of signature to register the litter. Yes, written/signed contract for sure.
