Goats' milk is much better than cows' milk. When I have had pups in the past I always started weaning them with a goats' milk mixture.

Years ago I had a milk goat and always fed it to puppys and they did great on it. I started mixing it with dry feed as soon as they were old enough to eat solid food.

always goats milk. I have reared a litter of 4 GSD puppies on goats milk when the mother died when born. My vet said it the nearest thing to a their mothers milk. They are now just 2 years old and doing great

Goats milk is great. If using Cow's milk go for evaporated, otherwise too diluted.

Why too diluted, please explain, diluted= low fat !!?

Perhaps I used the wrong term Ibrahim. My understanding is that cows milk is a good as dogs milk but that the concentration is different, i.e. half, and hence evaporated is best. Some think that puppies may suffer the rare human problem of coping with larger fat globules in cows milk, and hence goats milk is best. I'm not convinced, but would err towards goats milk as I've never had any problems with this with puppies - and they love it! Hope that explains.

The way I understand it goats milk is more like dogs milk--I don't know all the technical terms and I also know cows milk gives them the runs really bad.  I think if you mix the evaporated cows milk with a little karo syrup and something else--like the formula they used to use for babies it can work but I've never done it.  Either fresh goats milk or the evaporated kind you buy in the store and I dilute it--half water and half canned milk.

if your pup is two mths old and your feeding a good diet, you shouldnt have to feed him any milk at all,it tends to leave their stools v soft!and sheeps milk is better than cows or goats!!!
