Had a TCI (Trans Cervical Insemination) with fresh semen and then 2 days later with chilled semen on one of my bitches and 0 puppies. Progesterone testing showed it was perfect timing.

If you're going to spend the money, your best best bet may be a Surgical Artificial Insemination - this is where the doctor places semen right on top of the eggs. With this method, even if the semen is injured during as it was chilled and shipped, the likelihood of a real litter is much higher. Plus the doctor can take a "look see" at the uterus to make to tell the condition of it.

Thanks Kim, for the information, i know well about surgical Insemination and i am not willing to do it, i like to give AI a try and if it does not work, i guess i will have to fly to the stud. next time around. i do prefer the natural way...

i guess i will have to think about this whole AI thing and if it is worth doing......

The results with AI in reality assuming the bitch shows receptivity at the time of AI is really about the same as with natural cover.  With shipped cooled it all depends on how the individual ships, not all studs semen ships well as to how viable the semen will be. Progesterone testing will definitely aid you in timing which is important. I have known bitches and mares who would never get pregnant no matter how perfect the insemination was by AI who would asap by natural cover and I have known some the other way around, who will always refuse the stud, but happily get pregnant for the veterinarian.

In over 25 years in dealing with mares, stallions, bitches and stud dogs i have learned that anything can happen and especially mares and bitches can do anything possible......

I always prefer natural cover for both species.
