I am new to all of this and need some help understanding things I have read on here. I read about Nero vom Nobachtal being band by the SV back in 2004 and that went to all his progeny as well. Is this still true? Sammo vom Team Fiemereck is his son and he has his V and will soon be mated. Would I be making a mistake if I bought one of his daughters? I am really needing some guidance here by some honest people. Thanks!!

Statement of the Breed Registry of the German Shepherd Dog Association (SV) After the Breed Registry was informed that the dog "Nero vom Nöbachtal, SZ-Nr. 2080775" had covered bitches abroad, the SV managing committee decided to give the following advice to the relevant associations abroad, and moreover to the bitch owners in Germany, warning them of the offspring of "Nero vom Nöbachtal" which were born after the 9th August 2004 (date on which the offspring registration ban legally came into effect). The associations abroad were told that since we have now discovered that the dog Nero vom Nöbachtal is to be used in their country as a stud dog, we would like to point out that an offspring registration ban has been imposed by the SV on this dog since 09th August 2004. Therefore offspring from this dog, even if they are registered in their country in the breed register, will not be included in our breed register. This means that should an application be made for offspring from this dog to be registered in the SV Breed Register, it will be rejected by us with reference to the relevant regulations. This means, de facto, that these dogs will also be banned from registering in the German Breed Register (breeding prohibited). In order to be able to register dogs in Germany in the Breed Register, it is necessary, in accordance with Paragraph 4.1.1 of the Breeding Regulations, that the parent animals are themselves included in the SV Breed Register. The exhibition of these dogs is also not possible, since the SV does not judge the confirmation itself, but instead gives a breed assessment, and in accordance with the conformation show rules, dogs which have an offspring registration ban imposed on them are not permitted to take part in conformation shows of the SV. This applies to all dogs that are fathered by Nero vom Nöbachtal after the offspring registration ban came into force. We would be grateful, if the foreign associations were also to decide to impose an offspring registration ban, since this would certainly be opportune in protecting bitch owners." 'offspring of "Nero vom Nöbachtal" which were born after the 9th August 2004 (date on which the offspring registration ban legally came into effect)." Sammo was born prior to the ban and has been approved for breeding. You would have no problems if buying one of his offspring.

Since Sammo v Team Fiemereck was born June 3 2003, he is NOT affected by the SV's ban on Nero progeny--it only affects dogs sired directly by Nero that were born after August 9, 2004. Even then, the ban only applies to registration of offspring with the SV; I haven't heard of any other registries going along with the SV's request and banning Nero offspring so far. BTW, Sammo is certainly a *beautiful* dog, and I particularly like his topline, as well as his head and expression...so here's hoping you are able to get one of his daughters, and that she turns out even half as well as him. NICE dog!

Thanks for the replys. I definitely needed help understanding all of that. I have fallen in love with the breed but am still learning and researching everything.

Hi Mayzee. I can understand your confusion. As soon as I saw Sämmo the first time, I knew that I wanted to have my female have babies from him. As I wasn't sure if he was ok, I first got intouch with our "Körmeister" so that he could check everthing up and to get his ok. Now we have 2 gorgeous little male pups that look very good. i'm really pleased that it worked out. Doing a little research first is always better than making a mistake that can't be made undone.
