Baldus has placed a nice ad on Oli's site for a couple of puppies.  If you go to his site you will find some impressive stud dogs and if you go to his "whelpen" page, and scroll down a bit you will see a photo of two GSD puppies that have this rare, unmistable look, a look of total confidence, and a message of "don't mess with me".   I am always impressed with this look anytime I have ever encountered it.  Yes, it is now more frequent in WL dogs from Europe, but still rare and even rarer in SL dogs from Germany.

There are still many excellent GSDs that don't have this look that still have good temperament that train and behave properly, but this look used to be so much more prominant with the dogs years ago from Mutz lines, and the breeders Hausbeck, Korbelback, and yes even Wildsteiger (who produced some very excellent working temperament).  I have never seen a puppy with this look that grew up which would not spontaneously hit a helper or aggressor without any training and without excellent and true working GSD temperament.  I am not saying it can't happen, I just haven't seen it or heard of it.  This eagle eye or fire in the eye look is the look of determination and total confidence.  It is always amazing and impressive to see it in young puppies or for that matter any GSD.  Congratulations to this breeder Baldus on attaining this in his puppies that his photo shows.

If anyone else has photos of GSDs with this look, puppies or adult, I would sure like to see them. I know for a fact that some of the folks who are regular posters on this site have had some well known stud dogs with this look.

Here's another fine example of fire in the eyes.  Marjoruvhaj has posted an ad on Oli's site.  On his web page below about half way down there are some photos of a sable puppy with this unmistable look:

Congratulations to this breeder.  This is the look of total confidence and it is nice to see it in a puppy.  He also has some other very nice looking GSDs.

Preston,

I have a puppy that has something beautiful about his expression and eyes that I do not see in the other puppies I have, I hope it is the fire in the eye or eagle look which you talk about, here are a few pictires.

Well, I think Jim had it...  There's certainly SOME sort of spark in this old guy's eyes, even though he was 11 or 12 when I took this picture.

That looks more like devotion to me, Sunsilver!  Was he an old favourite?  Sweet old boy!

I think "the look" of the pups in the link Preston posted is quite different to anything else posted... and at such a young age, amazing!
