Does a wheat allergy cause ear infections?
I rescued a girl,Lady, who has many health problems. I have her on a gluten free diet. We have had her for 8 months and no ear infection. As for her old vet records, she had them most of the time.

Yes, allergies cause ear infections, usually of the yeast variety.

I have figured out that she can not tolerant corn., wheat or rice. She has SIBO and the low residual dog food made thing ugly.  Third ingredient is corn.    Thankfully, I have a vet who grew up with my husband and he went along with the idea that she needed a different food that was grain free.

Sky has wheat allergy. I discovered this by reading and trying different types of dog food (unfortunately my vet was not knowledged enough to realize the reason causing allergy nor the ear infection which Sky suffers from now).

Another reason for ear infection ( i think) is that Sky plays a lot in grass, mud and water. Since he's my first GSD I wasn't aware of the ear cleaning procedure and time intervals, until I googled and bought him audio wash and ear drops to heal the infection.
"His highness" my vet wouldn’t clean the ears himself or at least teach me the process!

Sky now eats rice, raw meat and chicken, variety of vegetables and yogurt/ cottage cheese. He's doing GREAT.
And thanks to the recipes available online.
I noticed that when Sky eats corn he poops the corn AS IS. So I stopped feeding him corn
