Does anyone have any good suggestions on longterm prevention? Everyday I use fly spray and that seems to only work for maybe a couple of hours.
Thanks

SWAT fly ointment. It comes in neon pink and clear.
See if this link works.... http://www.jeffersequine.com/ssc/product.asp?CID=1&pf_id=13040

Sprays never seem to last,  I have had to use an ointment on the tips of the ears before.
I'll have to look at the jar to tell you what the product name is, I haven't had the problem in a while.
Fly tapes are cheap and non-toxic, and if you can be safe with it Golden Malrin will kill em by the ton.
Just don't tell Peta your killing flys.

Ointments and creams work better then sprays.

Sprays get on faces, in eyes, in noses, get inhaled....I don't like them. Too dangerous, IMO. When flies are really bad, I put SWAT on their ears like I do the horses. It stays where you put it, and while it's still a chemical, I think it's a lot better than repeatedly dousing their entire bodies in toxins. Plus, SWAT helps heal the old sores from the flies.

A good Amish friend said Listerine, yes, the mouthwash, full strength,  in a spraybottle, works wonders for days.... I also have sprayed it on the dogs body and in the kennel area... deters biting flies, horse flies, ticks, and mosquitoes. You can use this on yourself and your children as well, safely... I use SWAT as well, but Listerine is my first choice.

I used to use Skin so soft - from Avon. I am a natural type owner and this was the ticket for me.
