Hi my female is inconsistent with her seasons her first was 18/01/2009 then her second was 20/04/2009 and her third 11/09/2009. I am planning on mating her on her next season but with her being inconsistent so far i am unsure of when she will be in next time. Any help is much appreciated thank you.She is now 18 months old.16 months in pic.

You might want to consult with a reproductive vet. From what I have been told by 2 repro vets, it is not all that unusual for gsd bitches to come into season 3 times a year. That takes a real toll on the uterus, though. If you are anywhere near Cleveland, trot her over to Dr. Hutchinson asap.

I can't provide much help regarding her seasons, but I do need to ask whether or not you have had her hips and elbows evaluated. Also, has she been titled yet? In this economy thousands of well-bred German shepherds are being euthanized every day, so if you do decide to produce more animals on this earth please be sure they are of the highest quality and that you, as a breeder, will make sure that anyone who purchases your pups will give them back to you in the event that they can't be kept, and that you, as the breeder, will make sure that you rehome them into a good, loving home. I don't mean to lecture, but this is something you really need to think about before you breed. A good breeder does not breed dogs soley to make make money, but instead because they really love the breed and they love their dogs and want to produce as good or better than what they have. Also, a good breeder who really loves the breed typically doesn't make a lot of money, if any. Please think about all of this BEFORE you breed. I wish you the very best.

Just a little friendly advice......wait till she is at least 2 yrs old.
Have her hips x-rayed and sent to OFA or Germany for the A-stamp.....
Have her checked by a repro vet like Mystere suggested, make sure she is healthy and strong first.
Puppies are wonderful, but minimizing the chance of illness or losing your "friend"(female) should be priority one!
Do these simple things FIRST........for both your sakes.
Best wishes,
Robin

My bitch came into season every 17 weeks, and by the time she was 5 years old her uterus was shot and she had to be spayed. Makes it difficult if you have a really nice bitch...broke my heart. Luckily she had two terrific daughters out of the only litter she produced.

I would not breed this female....Sorry
I would follow advice above and do the medical testing ,but personally I think you are asking for something you may not want to endeavor....Medical costs for breeding sucessfully may be overwhelming and is this what you want and is this a good kind of female to breed.....?

Hi guys thanks for your input i live in uk and yes she has had her hips and elbows done through our kc/bva(hips total 12,elbows 0) she is my first show dog and has done very well imo as she has been placed 2/3 at champ level. And Starchar i totaly agree with what you say about the money i'm not bothered about that aspect i am trying to set up my kennel and am planning on keeping a girl out of the litter. And yes i would always take any dog i bred back to rehome they would be my breeding so it's only right to do this. Also i am waiting to hear if she has managed to become a pets as therapy dog,I have decided not to get any schutzhund titles as she is quite laid back in her tempermant, and when i did try at a club near where i live i was told that it would take me a good 2 years with her to get shz 1 hence the route as a pats dog.I have spoken to my vet also about the situation regarding her seasons and they are not too worried at the moment, they want to see when she comes in next.
