Hello,

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/557038.html

1. If you check above pedigree of Georginia vom Merlin you shall find mentioned below her pic:

Linebreeding - 5 generations
 (•5 - 4............................................. in VA1 Ulk von Arlett )

Does this mean (at least theoretically) that genetics wise Georginia should mostly be influenced by her ancestor Ulk von Arlet ?

2. If I want to investigate more on Georginia vom Merlin ancestors I should go to Ulk von Arlet pedigree, correc or wrong?

3. If you check Ulk von Arlet pedigree it says there:

Linebreeding - 5 generations
•4 - 5............................................. in V Wilma von der Kisselschlucht

•5,5 - 5........................................... in V Sara vom Sonnenberg

•5,5 - 5........................................... in VA2 Quanto von der Wienerau

•4,4 - 5,4......................................... in VA5 Lasso di Val Sole

which of the above is supposed to have more influence on Ulk ?, they are many line breedings.

4. How can I investigate more on Ulk ancestors? where to go from his own pedigree?

5. If you want to buy a puppy and the breeder asks "which blood line do you prefer?", what does that mean?, how many blood lines are there in the show line? please name a few.

Thanking you for your help

4,5 is too far to be of a major influence UNLESS it reads like
4,4 - 5,5 ie doubled or quadrupled up great grand sires or dams

The two parents contribute 50 50 thus they are most important to what you seek in an outcome

Only on closer line breedings, 2,3 or 3,3 you can logically say it pulls in those genetics of said line breeding as its proven many times.  I have had good results with both 2,3 or 3,3

there are not too many bloodlines officially in show lines, it takes quite a bit of production for a male to do so.  The rules have changed to a restriction of 90 breedings per year per stud dog, only 60 in Germany where it counts.  Thus to build a new bloodline is now virtually impossible.   Before this restriction, just imagine, Sires could be bred daily.

Von der Wienerau's breeder had great relationships with many breeders throughout Germany, thereby creating so many litters and pups carrying the name, that it created the bloodlines carrying the kennel name.

Thus the two most known, are the Wienerau lines, Canto and Quanto von der Wienerau and a third Mutz Pelztierfarm where all dogs lead back to. Here info about those three super producers
