I don't post often here, with the kids, the job, the dogs, my husband (oh my god my husband's last !!!) I'm pretty busy...I need your advice about the supplement Hokamix.

Last training session, during Protection work, my girl was sitting and then she stepped to grab the tug. I don't know what about the move she made but she couldn't walk on one of her back leg for a couple of seconds, maybe 30 seconds.  It made me kind of worried she never had panosteitis or any kind of hip/muskular difficulty (she will be 12 months next week, no RX yet I'm waiting until she is 2...I may change my mind if it happens again)

I went to the store and saw Hokamix, said to be good for hips, joints, skin and everything.  I bought it I started with 5 g a day then 3 days later up to 10g and now she got diarrhea.

Ever heard of that supplement or have any experience with it ?  Do you give supplement to your dogs ?  Thank you for your advice.

Hope this helps.

(Hi Steve, where ever you are! It was just good to see your pup on the garden bench in your avatar. Sigh.)

A Young Dog Old Dog not a great deal of difference when it comes down to feeding it, Hokamix Joint will help the Old Dog.
Gave it to two old dogs of my own for a long time one died 16.2 years the other 14.5 years old,The Hokamix helped them keep mobile that along with Salmon Oil etc on there food Plus the Vit E
Before asked these were not G.S but Border Collies which i used to train for Sheep Herding Competitions. But Hokamix is not just for young Dogs,  Mine will get it until they pass on from Puppyhood till old age so try it you will be suprised and it is NOT cheap some 80 dollars for a 500 gram tin, but it is very good indeed

I would probably do a prelim hip x-ray now at 12 months, would not wait until 2, that is another year.  If you do have a problem you may want to change her venue??  JMO  Nan

I use it, have used it for my dogs for years now, would not raise a litter without it.   How's that for endorsement?

Hokamix is a 100% natural herbal supplement. It's not new and has been around for over 20 years. Everything that they say about it is true! Here is a link to where I get it from and you can also look at the ingredients.

About the diarrhea, you are probably adding too much too quickly? You can use canned pumpkin to help with the loose stools.

We have used hokamix for over 15 years love it wouldn’t be without it.  All of our dogs get it daily for life, pups start getting it the week after we start feeding them solid food.
We follow the feeding recommendations on the bucket.
