I wasn't able to get close to the long coat ring on Sunday as I was judging in the Main Ring but I did watch proceedings from my ring when I got a chance. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and that is certianly backed up by all the lovely photos and comments on the messageboard.

I hope that the new found friendships between "normal" coated GSD exhibitors and "long" coated GSD exhibitors will go from strength to strength.

In that spirit of friendship I would like, on behalf of Birmingham and District GSD Association,  to welcome all long coat exhibitors to come along to the GSD Junior Rally on 11th July 2009 in Staffordshire. The event is aimed at young enthusiasts between the ages of 6 and 24 and they can take part in breed handling, agility, obedience, judging and generally having fun.

Spectators are also most welcome. It is a great day to socialise puppies and chat with like-minded people. Last year many of the pups were "borrowed" by the youngsters under close supervision and they not only helped the youngsters but got some useful training in too!

We are also holding a breed survey on the day (long coats can participate in breed surveys) - with the criterion that they are handled by a handler between 10 and 24 years of age. If you have a dog to survey and no handler of a suitable age, I am sure we can find you one!

More information can be found on www.gsdjuniorrallys.co.uk - if you would like to come please let me know asap as I have lots of organising to do over the next 3 weeks!

Cheers

Shirley Hutchinson
