I had been feeding Diamond natural with sucess for a year until a month ago. I got abag and right away all three of my dogs got diarrhea really bad so I switched to Chicken soup and there stools were normal the next day. I called the company and they got back with me after testing that batch and said they were going to refund me the money. I still have the old food, should I have it tested or just take the money and change dog food.

You are getting a refund so let it go. If you have any medical bills coz of this you can try claim them.

So, that means they probably found something wrong. If not, they would have said - "there is nothing wrong with this food, take your dogs to the vet as they may all have worms or something else".

I think there is much more here than the cost of a bag of food. I wonder how many other dogs are getting sick eating from this same batch. Offering a refund to one person is sure an easy way out.

Did they tell you what was wrong with the food? Did you ask? I would have it tested.

I had a problem with my last bag of TOTW (Taste of the Wild) which is manufactured by Diamond.  My GSD had different symptoms (vomiting) but stools were fine.  I contacted the company and they were very easy to deal with.  They offered to refund my money for the bag if the store that I purchased it from didn't (the store did).

The weird thing was when I gave them the batch info from the bag - I must have been half asleep because some of the numbers and letters were wrong.  I obviously must not have had my glasses on!   One of their vets contacted me after my initial lphoe call  and said she also fed TOTW, lived in the same metro area that I do (contractor) and checked her bag.  Miracle of all miracles....she had the same batch but no problems.  How could that possibly be when I inadvertently recited incorrect letters and numbers on my initial call????  Maybe it was "close enough" when my information was entered.  Just made me think....hmmmm.

I did end up switching foods because of this though.

I smell something fishy with this - and why are they so easy to deal with regarding refunds?? Answer - make the customer happy and they will be less likely to pursue other avenues. my opinion.......

I would ask for a refund along with a complete report of what was found. I would also have the food tested yourself. I lost one dog, almost two last year from Nutro Beef & Rice (red bag). I had been feeding Nutro for about 6 months and didn't have any problems. The day after I opened a brand new bag that I purchased at Petco I had two adult dogs suddenly crash. They were lethargic at first... I thought it was possibly the heat (first warmer day of spring) so we brought them in the AC. After 30 minutes they still were sickly so we rushed them to the vet. These were the only two dogs that had been fed this food, the others were on the lamb and rice formula. One of the dogs went into complete liver failure and had to be euthanized after being hospitalized for 3 days. The other took a week to recover in the hospital and barely made it. She was so weak after that we eventually spayed her and placed her as a pet. When we called Nutro they literally jumped at the chance to pay the vet bills and the cost of the bag of food. No questions asked. Seemed really crappy. The person on the other end didn't even seem to care. Now we only feed Canidae and are very happy with the owners of the company (minus them adding grains). The food has it's own plant where it is made which is unique for a dog food company.

I'm telling you people, too many horror stories with Diamond, to chance it for the sake of a cheap bag of food.

VomHausCander - so sorry for your tragic loss.  It's scary stuff.  After our episode I'm staying clear of Diamond - just too much to chance and I couldn't imagine going through what you did.

I give a dog food company only one chance, if a company has had their food recalled, I do not ever feed it to my dogs.
