This will contribute greatly to the understanding of genetics in general, including canine genetics. This discovery is the finding of a secondary genetic code which will explain the higher order functions of the genes such as turning certain genes on and off and when certain main genes should be activated developmentally. This means that the billions of dollars now being spent on human gentics research is providing science directly useful to canine genetics and related diagnoses of canine diseases and their treatment. As I mentioned before a simple genetic cheek swab test is now available for the coat factor, a major breakthrough for fully informed breeding in and of itself.
