This is a spin off from another thread, and let's not get ugly... Can we start 2 lists on this thread? 1-imported, already titled showline studs or bitches that continue to TRIAL in this country (OK, the USA). This would also include dogs that are sent out of the country for training/titling, and return 2- HOT showline dogs that are multiple SchH3...bonus points for FHs. In this list, give the conformation rating, if possible. As a starting point, I'm not looking for scores, or if the dog entered at a club, regional, or national level - just looking for some raw data that can be refined later. When listing a dog, please specify which list...

Why not ask, how many Baseball players are playing Football or how many Football players are playing Basketball... I think you`ll get the same list. Not that they can`t, but they don`t.

This thread fell flat, didn't it? Here's my point: I do absolutely believe that there are showlines out there that have nice drives and can do the sport. I don't think they are all weak nerve bags that just look nice. I do think it is possible to have a dog in the "Golden Middle". My point it that showline people who advertise left and right that their dogs are high drive workers need to get out there and let people see that the dogs can do the work. They are asking people to pay insane amounts of money for pups that can 'do it all', but there is no backup behind their claims, other than something on a piece of paper and alot of hearsay. People who pay over 10 grand for a dog can't afford to pay a $50 entry fee to repeat a title - and if they need a 'pro' for the handling, that too? We all know they pay the Germans big bucks to handle in the show rings over here. Wouldn't this be the ultimate advertisement for their breeding program?

Ron Harris of Rivanna Schh club in VA handles, owns, trains/titles and bred his dog Arnot - a show-line male with multiple Schh3 titles and V conformation rating, including a V at the 2006 USA Seiger Show. In fact he is competing Arnot for Universal Seiger (USA) this year. molly

Laporte, I agree with you. I would love to see it happen. It is a shame that most show line breeds don`t even know how to put in the effort to prepare there dogs to do the simple two bites needed for performance test. A full Sch routine would blow there mind... not the dogs, but the owners. I too feel there are many very capable show line dogs that never reach there potential. I fault the owners not the dogs. Molly mentioned one, and thats great... I want more.

I have an imported Showline male, Isai vom Gänsbachtal that I have learned with and trialed. He is V rated, multiple Schh3,RH1 and we will be trialing for an FH 1&2 in the future. He is an excellent tracker and very strong & serious in his protection work. His temperment is excellent and he is stable both on and off the field. Most of all he has been an excellent teacher and companion.

I see Lora completed I-kon Olympus' SchH3 recently. She raised and trained him from a pup and co owns him with his breeder. It's Lora first attempt to title a dog and she went from puppy to SchH3. She has a great natural feel for a dog. Lots of talent in this young girl. He's a strong boy. I handled him for his breed survey. What a nice dog.

Hello, when i first read this thread,i thought this is going to be very interresting..... main reason because LaPorte started out "..., lets not get ugly !" Still, i have the feeling that many peopel are not satisfied with it all. LaPorte it sounds that u do have a problem with peopel spending their money to have their dogs titled or having their dog handelt in the ring. And paying the Germans insane amounts of money .... this is something that gets repeated and repeated over & over again. You guys are right, it is pretty redicules how much money some breeders ask for a pup .... but i truly believe in the fact that a grownup has the right of choice ! To come back, to what i think about your questions. What i see happening over here in Germany regarding training dogs .....number of peopel attending trainingplaces are getting fewer. The lobbby of animal rights peopel is getting bigger & bigger. Wrong or false statements about SchH training scares peopel off. Why do peopel do not train their own dogs, rather giving them away ? Maybe they do not have the time to do the training, maybe they do not have the knowledge to do it. Here again, every single dog owner has the right of choice. I see it all the time, peopel come with their dog to our traingplace. Dog has a good conformation is eager to learn, one can tell. The owner has no glue what he is doing out there .... u start working with them and their dog, when u actually should start with the owner, without the dog !! We tried it.... 9 out of 10 never showed up again ! Nobody has learned all the dog stuff over night, we all started somewhere. Sometimes its better for the sake of the dog to be given away for training. One more thing, even if you are a mechanic, and you own a Ferrari, you will not fix it by yourself .... you will have it fixed by a speciallist ! Thats why there are trainers out there & handlers and so on. Yes, it would be nice if the prices would not be that high, but still, its your choice to take their service or not ! ( Besides that, if that trainer is good and you can depend on the outcome, i believe its worth every penny.) I am eager to read more comments about this. Regards Ulli Dresbach

People do choose how to spend their own funds, no one forces them to do it. I know sometimes it is simply a matter of convenience or needing to get the titles done quickly that prompts people to send their dogs for titling. So be it. I just wish that more of them would repeat titles over here so we can actually see some of these dogs work. The showline breeders rant loud and long that they are striving to improve the work ethic in their lines, breeding for structure AND drive, and they probably are, but it would be nice to see some of these dogs on the field on occasion. I think unfortunately alot of breeding choices are made on paper. I am glad there are some dogs that are getting listed here. Thanks for the input. These people deserve respect (and so do the working line people who prepare for and enter the shows) Can anyone list the showline dogs that have entered the Univeral Seiger competitions? Fox v.d. Bildeiche is a dog titled in Germany that has continued to work over here - see his name in results from the south all the time.

Ron Harris also titled Lars Wihlendorf (sp?) from a puppy. He did a great job. Other HOT notables: Rita Ledda, Randy Tyson, (many, many SchH 3's & FH's from these two! Also USA Breeder of the Year awards)Tacy Bullinger (Canada) Sara Hitchens (again: many)... actually most members of Menlo Park SchH Club title their own show dogs, come to think of it. Ditto for San Jose SC, Peninsula Canine Corps, Blue Tahoe SC, OG WestConn, Karen MacIntire, ME... Oh... the list goes on and on.
