Here's a picture I took this morning of the female I bought last week standing next to my male. (Hope the link works.) Now you can see why I think she is so small. I actually bought her to breed to my male....is she too small? Or doesn't it matter? http://audioinsiders.com/images/trigdana.jpg

Hi, I looked at the picture and you really can't tell how big the female is. Once again how tall is she?? At the sholder blades. Try and do an other picture. Otherwish she looks vey pritty! Jess

So long as she is within normal height and weight ranges it shouldn't matter. Also, you mentioned she is about a year old, which means she still has a year of growing time left before she should be bred. Usually shepherds haven't hit full growth until 1.5-2.5 years, so she could easily add another 10 lbs by the time she is 2.

You have got to be kidding me with that picture. The black one is so close to the camera there is no way to tell the size difference. If you are going to show how small she is with a picture you need to have them stand next to eachother an equal distance from the camera.

Maybe you just need to get yourself a big bitch to breed and find a nice home for the smaller girl. You don't sound all that happy with the one you have. Most have already told you she is not too small and that bigger is not better in breeds where agility is required. Have you had her hips and elbows xrayed yet? What about the prospective sire? Those are things you might want to give priority over size at this stage of the game.

The female was a year old yesterday and the male will be 3 in December. Taking pictures by myself, it's tough to get them to stand together in the same spot. Also difficult to measure her height alone as she squirms around a lot. I'm surprised the two of them don't fight over the ball. Instead they resort to trickery to steal the ball back and forth. It has been entertaining to observe all the plotting and planning. Very smart dogs. I'm glad they have worked things out so quickly.

Soryy I wasted everyone's time by posting such a crummy picture.

Hi, it is not a crummy picture, it is exactly as GSDfan says, the black male is too close to the camera. She is very good looking and looks like she has a good coat. Try to get someone to help you measure her if you can. She does not look small to me on the picture, I would be pleased with her as she is. Just because she is petite does not mean she is a healthy GSD. If everything else if good about her then you have no problems. As said the final size and weight is not usually known until 2 years. Once you have hips and elbows etc scored then you will know where you stand. She looks a lovely colour also. Good luck with her.

I agree with toots, she's a gorgeous girl. From what I can see she does not look undersized to me. You should take advantage of her drive and athletic build and try some K9 sports, SchH, OB, flyball, agility and get some titles on her. Females are not just ovens:) and you might just enjoy yourself. Try to measure her height, I'm sure everyone would like to know. I'd love to have her. Take care, Melanie

You're attempt at humor will be superceded by concern for the female---By the way, I was pleasantly surprised. She is very pretty, has good color and coat; as well as being nice and compact. She is much more substantial than was implied. This is not an attempt to make you appreciate her more, it's just an honest opinion. Truthfully, I read your previous posts, starting with your April 13 "Request to Buy" ad. Subsequently, I'm at a total loss --- I hope you're just confused and just need some reassuring. I wouldn't hesitate for a second---I'd keep her. If you offer her up for sale or adoption, she'll be gone in a heartbeat.
