I have a grown female that I keep in the house. In the last few days, she has started to not wet outside and then as soon as she comes in, she will pee on the floor. This morning, I took them out and she pooped and as soon as we came back in she started peeing on the floor. I took her right back out and she didn't do anything but as soon as she got within 5 feet of the door, she peed on my dining room floor. She acts like she is afraid to pee outside. She will just pace up and down through the field. She holds it forever till she just can't hold it any longer. Does anyone have any suggestions. I did call my vet and they want me to get a uring sample but I truly do not think it is anything wrong in medical terms. It almost seems like a submission thing.

A urine sample to check for urinary tract infection couldn't hurt. How old is "grown"? It could be a submissive thing too, it is hard to tell without more specifics. You say you took them out implying that there are other dogs in the house. Are there other dominance behaviors going on?

Do you go outside with her?? I would watch her closely outside and would definitely bring in a sample for UA... my cat used to do this whenever he would be working on a UTI or blockage.. he'd come out of the box and pee right in front of me or try to in the blockage case.. Obviously it's a little different in this case but this sounds like a really big change for this girl and medical is where I'd look first.. Could something have happened outside causing her to be fearful?? Try another spot maybe? or just be persistent but not use a lot of pressure..

Dogs will do this when they have a urinary tract infection. Especially if this started recently. Make sure she is getting enough water and have tests run. Good luck
