Does anyone have any experience with feeding Blue Buffalo puppy food to a pregnant bitch? A friend of mine was doing some research and I felt it would be appropriate to ask you guys for advice.

Thanks

The raw feeders on here, myself included, will say raw is the best way to go, natural and not processed.  But Blue is known as a good quality dog food.  Also would give fish oil and any supplements your vet recommends.  Another good kibble is Orijen.

I heard a few things where quality and rich foods such as BB and Orijen cause diarrhea any truth to that? And if so any advice on how to stop it?

I am using Blue Buffalo with my 17 week old GSD, he has a very soft stool, Vet says to try different brand kibble. i see no reason to change at this time, dog seems to like the BB.

I have heard a few people say that feed Blue Buffalo that their dogs have soft stool. From reading the ingredience, this is a very rich food.

Over feeding a rich food will cause looseness.  I guess some dogs do not tolerate them, but mine all do fine on Blue and Orijen after initial adjustment

I have my female GSD on Blue Buffalo with great success. I switched her from Wellness due to soft stools. I also put some Grizzley Salmon iol in it. Her coat looks great and she is very healthy.

I also use salmon oil....I use the Wild Alaskan salmon oil. It works very well...

Feeding Wilderness Salmon to a 3 yr old pregnant female. Her stools range from firm to soft (not loose).  Weather temp. seems to have an effect on stool. the hotter it is the softer the stool.  Maybe due to more water intake (just a guess).

Overall she is doing nicely.  I would love to feed it to all of the dogs but it is too costly.
