The GSD I belong to will always be perfect in my eyes! A great dog is a great dog no matter the pedigree.

I agree with all the qualities previosly stated, but I'm surprise nobody said this one trait. What would truly make a perfect german shepherd perfect is if he/she can reproduce those qualities in their offspring

Is anything truly perfect?

I would say it's a lofty goal.

I'll settle for something in the ball park according to my own expectations.

@ GSDtravels you mean its supposed to be seasonal.........

@ Adreya  agreed :)  I don't get too hung up on pedigrees either. A great dog is still a great dog regardless of what a pedigree says. ( I'm not a breeder so producing ability is of little consequence to me :P)  Any dog that I can call mine will be loved as if their picture was in the dictionary defining the word perfection.  No matter what their quirks, I feel that my dog (anyones dog for that matter) deserves no less.

Eh,  just like people, a dog doesnt have to be PERFECT, ( by whatever standard/definition you use) to be the perfect for you.  Sometimes "faults" are like gifts you never wanted, but somehow they ended up being just what you needed. As a kid we had a dog that had weight issues. Keeping her weight down was a chore. We used to do at least 4-5 mile walks each day, and because of it my Mom,  who is diabetic, got significantly healthier.  She used to have a bad habit of missing workouts, but  somehow that a bit harder to do when you have an impatient pup that depends on you, parked at the front door giving you the sad puppy face.

Either way it's always nice to have something to strive for.

This reminds me about the old joke about the lady who became a spinster waiting for "Mr. Perfect" because she wouln't settle for Mr. good enough...

Perfection is an ideal to strive towards, however, not everybody needs a "perfect" dog, just one that suits their needs, wants and temperament.  Many of the "problems" we hear owners experiencing with their "impecably bred" dogs boil down to a mismatch that could/should have been averted by a breeder/seller intent on seeing that their pups go to a lifelong home.

Ahh yes, waiting for the perfect man...

My first dog was just about perfect, and I'm going to look like the chick above waiting for another one like him. ;)
