Hi! Can anybody out there recommend me a good kennel in Germany? I am planning to buy a dog and hopefully I won't be able to encounter those kennels that are not totally honest. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You are very wise to ask around and be very careful or you will end up with the lower end level of dogs. I myself prefer buying from breeders here in the states where I can visit the kennel/parents/pups. Good luck..

maximillancue, Hello you are in the same boat as I am. I also want to buy GSD from Germany but it is pure luck to find a 'Good Kennel'. First you have to decide your budget. If budget is no problem then you can buy a BSZS titled proven dog. Then there is no need to worry about kennel. But if you have constraints of budget then you need a luck to find a good GSD. Because you will get bad dog even from a renowned kennel if you are a novice and you can get a superb dog from relatively unknown Kennel. Be cautious and dont jump into anything otherwise you will regret it for at least next 10 to12 years till the dog is with you. Contact breeders on email and may be you will be able to establish good relationship, then may be you can by a puupy from a well known kennel so that you can get in contact with the person and also you will come to know how the breeder is with relatively low risk. Then after sometime you can decide on bying a better dog with more money. But let be honest dont buy a costly dog without seeing with your own eyes. I will give you email of this person who I find very honest and gives a correct and balance advice. may be you can email him and find more.ulli@vom-sankt-martiner-tal.de>. Best of luck to you.

I would suggest zwinger von der urbecke! They're really honest and genuine people! They'll let you know everything about a particular dog which is offered for sale! You can check with them! They even have a website! www.urbecke.com

I agree that you need to do the research to determine the best fit as far as working vs. show line and what you are actually looking for in a dog. I have read negative and positive about buying a dog abroad and I will tell you a couple of things based on my experience. I have 3 dogs purchased over the last 2 years - 2 from Germany and 1 from USA. I feel better about the transactions made with the individuals in Germany than I do with the 1 I bought in the US. My last purchase took 1 week from the initial contact to the dog arriving at the airport. I have no regrets AND if money is the determining factor - you can expect broad range of prices from US or Germany. All of mine were comparable in price including shipping.
