Our male GSD is 2.5 years old. He is prone to alergies in the fall. This winter he has lost a bit of hair aroound the lower nostril area. It is not noticable unless you look closely. it is pink under nostrils. I Hve lived with GSDs for 35 year and never seen this type of problem (thought I had seen everything). Other than that he is in perfect health. Line breeding 5-5 and 5-4 so not concerned about that issue. Any suggestions? no other signs of alleries present.

Is he eating from a plastic dish? Try panalog.

No plastic. Solid Gold from regular dish. Will try PAnalog thanks!

is it possible that he is rubbing the hair off? when my male was a pup and was in the process of getting used to being crated while I was gone he rubbed the hair off on his chin and just below his nose from chewing on the bars of his crate and pressing his nose against the bars.
perhaps it might not be a crate in your issue, but maybe just rubbing it off while eating roughly? or playing with toys/sticks or doing some serious sniffing?
