Why Germany? Long way to go to do a suprise visit to monitor the level of correction and training being used. Theres an excellent trainer/handler/helper where Gucci lives in the US and since you have a Gucci Grandson, again Why Germany? Do a internet search for Triumph's Gucci you will find his USA owner and handler. I would post a link but I guess it is against the TOS. I have a Gucci Daughter, man they are Firecrackers! If your grandson is anything like my daughter your gonna have your hands full. I don't think she ever sleeps and when she does 1 eye is open.

hello DH -- that is great to hear !! -- good luck at the sieger show !! to many a person the GSD should still be coinsidered one of the world's best working canine !! if not the best --

Dawn -- realize that there some very good trainers in germany --- but realize too ... there are also many terribly awful trainers there too !! -- be picky -- and ., i am not sure who i would have title my dog in this country !! i have seen to many awful trainers here .. there may be some good ones .. but again be very selective .. and i have seen those that claim to be postitve trainers use some pretty tough negative methodologies too !! -- .. believe me .. i have acqauintances who thought they were fine with the ones they selected only to be terribly dissatisfied ... get the lowdown on who you work with and rteferences from others --

Alphapup, take note of the quotation marks. Not my words... That was a quote of a previous k-9Helser post earlier this year. I hope we can post URLs from this site ;o) http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/38293.html#38452 Mind you the 2006 USA Sieger Show is over now.

MaximusMom, not every trainer is in someones immideate neighborhood. A surprise visit may just as well happen in Germany, especially if you have to fly where your dog is might as well fly to Germany. A well established training center neither has to worry about surprise visits, nor should they be necessary. If you ship a dog, may as well ship it to Germany. Biggest drawbacks in getting a dog trained in the US is that there are just not enough trials and KKLs available. That can add up in terms of time. In Germany you have a KKL every month during the season from March to November, and access to a trial just about every weekend. For example, we offer the option of personal pick up so that the owner can see what has been done with the dog. And when top kennels keep bringing their dogs, surely other peoples dog are in good hands too.

I have few questions. First of all, why would you automatically think of sending your dog to Germany for titling? If you are a very busy breeder with alot of dogs, having someone else title them seems to be quite common, and many breeders send their dogs to their contacts in Germany. However, you are concerned about harsh methods, and as someone pointed out earlier, it might be nice to be able to drop in to observe how the dog is being trained or check on the dog's progress. This can't happen very easily or cheaply if your dog is across the ocean. There are good trainers and harsh trainers everywhere - I would bet there are some good and bad ones near you, whether you know it or not (you didn't mention where you are located, but I am assuming the States). You have a 10 week old pup - visit some trainers and clubs near you. Watch how they work dogs and watch how they deal with the people that are there. Watch how they work pups, show line dogs, older dogs, and working line dogs. Do they coach the newbies? Does the helper explain what he expects from the handlers? Get a feel for what you are comfortable with, and ask questions. Go to some local trials and shows. See what trainers and handlers are doing well - not just with one dog, but with several dogs. Ask questions in your area - talk to members of the local clubs - I bet you would find out more than you could imagine. You have plenty of time to do your homework, and you might just find that you completely enjoy the time you are spending with your dog, and will decide to do the titling yourself! If not, then you will have a better idea of what questions to ask when looking for a trainer/handler for the titling, plus your dog will hopefully have a good foundation going. Second question - and no offense to anyone - but why automatically Germany? Why not look into someone in the States? Obviously the Germans have great dogs and started this whole thing... :) BUT I do think that unless you have an ongoing relationship with a breeder, trainer, or handler over there, working with someone in your own country helps strengthen the sport and breed in your home country, which is something that as owners, handlers, trainers, breeders, and even judges, we should all be striving for - not CHANGING the standard or the sport, but making it STRONGER all over the WORLD. People obtain schutzhund and IPO titles all over the world, there is no need to ship your dog to another country. Lastly, why do you want the dog titled? I would assume from your email that you plan to breed - but there are alot of things that also must fall into place - hips, elbows, teeth, temperment, show rating, etc. Will you automatically place the dog elsewhere if one of those does not work out? If the answer is no, you will keep the dog regardless, then start working the dog yourself and enjoy participating in a great sport with your dog. My dogs are still my dogs at the end of every day, and part of the great relationship I have with them is built on training, trialing, and showing them. Just my two cents.

D.H, I remember sending Timothy Helser an email (around March 11, 2006 6:06 PM )about this years WDA schutzhund nationals that my club were hosting up in Sunny Florida. I did comment about how good his dog, Tas ze Slunecne Zahrady SchH3 , IPO3, ZVV3, FH , ZPO1,ZPS1,ZM worked. He's got a working video on his site. We were both friendly and he told me that was looking into going with Tas.

Timothy, Nobody is talking bad about you. You simply told everybody that you were entering to this years sieger show with 13 100% Working Lines. I've sent you the invitation about our club hosting the nationals simply so you can show the world how tas work (Note that crystals videos was video taping it). I spent my time emailing you so you can better up your breeding program and reputation. Sorry if you thought that I was bashing. I would of LOVED to meet you and to talk dog stuffs to you in a positive way. Hope your arm is feeling better... Are you going to be doing NASS? as far as I can see it NASS is bigger then USA sieger show, IMO.

Edited to remove bashing remarks: K-9 Helser SCH Trainers in Germany (0 replies) 29 Apríl 2006 - 01:04 Reply Hello, I COULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE Sieger Show as I broke my right arm working a dog in protection work so there was no way I could show my dogs I wish we could have made it But . As far as Brittany You are the one that e-mailed me to ask me if I would show my male in the WDA schutzhund nationals , I wrote you back and told you maybe . Just to let you know I would never show my dog with GSDCA-WDA as they indirectly support the AKC . I have nothing to do with the AKC , I think this shows take a look and just how few turned out to compete for the schH3 compared to the AWDF or the USA or DVG . WE WILL DO ALL WE CAN TO BE THERE NEXT YEAR . AND FROM WHAT I HEAR THE USA SHOW WAS A JOKE this year , HOW MANY DOGS PULLED OR FAILED because of the protection work ? Rain , snow , heat , cold should in no way make your dog perform badly but bad training and genetics will . Thank you
