I too have a dog with PI so I read with interest the many articles. I was so impressed by the honest exchange of VALUABLE INFORMATION with no squabbling, put downs or petty back biting. Thank you so much. This is what I look for when coming to this web site. It was very refreshing to be able to read the info and first hand accounts without needing to skip over the "other" stuff. So much can be accomplished when working together for a common goal. The info about low fat diets was right on. We have ours on Canidae Senior the fat content is about 7-8%, Prozyme (one half tsp per feeding) and Sulfasalizine to control the bacterial overgrowth that was discussed. We had been using Flagyl for this but it stopped working and our vet suggested the sulfa drug. So far so good. She is pooping normally without the mucous or the gray crust that is indicative of this condition. She is about 8-10 lbs. underweight but her coat looks good and she has plenty of energy. Thanks to all for the information and personal insights.
