Our one young female had two teeth in one spot for a bit. One baby tooth was slow in coming out. As soon as it did the adult tooth moved right into place with no problems. Get you puppy good chew toys for when teething, it helps.

A double P1 is not a fault..but it will be noted on the dental notation. I have a female who has been shown many times and also to the vet and it was never noticed until a friend, who is also a judge, looked at her for me.

Not really a problem. In the worst case she might KKL2. Chances are this tooth will fall out on its own in a few years, since it is most likely a retained puppy tooth where the root did not break off to make room for the permanent tooth. Do keep an eye on it, if it starts to go bad, it needs to be pulled. In order to still be within standard you can have up to 3 minor teeth missing (P1, P2, incisors), a minor overbite up to 2mm is also still acceptable. The standard says nothing about extra teeth, but usually diviations from normal dentation means KKL2. We had a female a few years back that had 2 P1s and she was KKL2, just an average bitch, could have been due to the whole picture. I have discussed it with other breeders and heard from some that they have had the same and their dogs V rated fine and got their KKL1. Keep the overall picture in mind, a very good dog should not be disregarded because of a minor flaw.

If the extra tooth is a baby tooth, I would not worry about it unless it stays far too late (how late I can't say) or becomes diseased. It is common for young puppies to still have baby teeth while the adult teeth are emerging and have dentition that resembles a shark, rather than a dog. The tooth will probably fall out on its own. Past that, have your veterinarian make an x-ray. If he/she says that it is okay to pull, then it is your decision. As others have said, one (1) extra tooth will probably not be determined to be a serious flaw. Bob-O

you can show a dog with a double P1...it only keeps the dog from going VA.
