I couldn't help but to see that the kennel vom Wildsteiger Land (according to their website) are starting to use working lines in their program. The stud, Javir vom talka Marda, A dark sable working line was bred to Kleopha vom Wildsteiger Land and produced 3 males and 6 bitches. Does anybody happen to have any information as to why they are starting to use workingline blood in their breeding programs? I feel that I am persuaded that well known showline kennels in germany are realizing that "Most" german showline lacks of nerves and working drives as what the hardcore workingline folks are complaining about all along.

Why dont you write to them and ask them yourself?? :-) They have an email on their website and no one, but they can give you a true answer to this. ;-)

I would suspect that it is to improve the black saddle of the conformation-type dog. I can't speak for Wienerau, but some kennels make this practice this every three (3) generations or so. And, I suspect it is being done to restore some drive tendancies. Both motives are positive and should improve the line. In my opinion it sounds like a correct thing to do, and I think that Wienerau should be praised for this type of breeding. Bob-O

Hi Everybody: Seems like you spend a lot of time web surfing, Brittany. It is true, that the Widsteigerland kennel is breeding to Javir, who happens to be a brother of my female, Jilnannah, and is owned by my friends Horst and Michaela Knocke. But keep in mind that Javir is very correct in body and Quaste (his mother) is V rated at Seiger show as well. I saw Kleopha and her brother, they are both very nice working dogs, including their father Dux, who competed at the LGA. It is a very good breeding and I am glad that Mr. Geobl is taking the lead here. Ajay Singh www.ajaysingh.com

Schaeferhund, I did sent them an email and haven't gotten an email back... I'm afraid it is because of the language problem. I do not know a whole lot of german to actually make a Paragraph. Maybe you can help me by writing to them in german and ask? If you live in germany... possible call them and report back to us? Javir vom talka Marda in IMO is not the best structured dog. Hes got a body of a bitch and he has obvious signs of a roach back. I'm sure this dog can work but as far as improving conformation. I'm sure the owners wasn't looking at that.

Hi Brittany: Your opinion is probably based on the picture in the pedigree database which was taken when he was barely 12 months old. I have seen the dog on two occasions, and one about a week ago. I am not trying to sell anything here, he is a very nice looking dog in person and placed fairly high at the conformation show recently as well. But you are entitled to your opinion. Actually, he is correct in body. Depends on when the picture was taken. Some lines mature out later than others in terms of filling out. I have seen working dogs in the US that have been rated V in local shows that are SG at best. They probably focused on the work aspect instead on showing the dog in conformation shows. Quaste is an excellent dog as well.

I would like to equate the line breeding to the frame work of a house. If the structure is solid, the and framing was done right, house is going to with stand the test of time and nature. So Brittany, look at this "Post and Beam" frame work and think about how solid Javir is! PS you might want to look deeper than the siding next time you buy a house too. Linebreeding:SG Javir vom Talka Marda 5 generations 4 - 4..... in V Fero vom Zeuterner Himmelreich 5 - 4..... in V Greif zum Lahntal 5 - 5..... in SG Perle vom Rosenbusch 5 - 5..... in * Flori vom Berglein 4 - 4..... in V Askia vom Froschgraben 5 - 5..... in Xenia vom Fideliohaus 5 - 5..... in Nico vom Haus Marterstock

Patiala, I'm sure he does look nice in person. Yes I'm judging strictly on the picture that i'm seeing on this site. Which conformation show did he got placed under? what was the rating and how many dogs was he competing against? SKI, I'm not saying that hes all faulty... Just that he looks like a bitch. We all have our own structure ways of what a workingline should look like... To get a better picture of where im coming from heres a list of male working dogs that truly love, as far as the conformation. Elliot vom Hambacher Schloßblick Galant z Pohranicni Straze Erri z Blatenskeho zamku Eick von der Berger Hochburg I would NEVER breed to any dog who hasn't fully matured yet. I prefer breeding to older dogs who proven themselves worth breeding for... not just for the titles that the dog won but to see how well he produced so far.

by Patiala on 27 February 2006 - 06:02

Hi Brittany: I will find out that information for you. Meanwhile, feel free to read his Koer report. With the list of dogs you gave, I see where you are coming from and I believe they are nice dogs as well. You have to see this dog in person to know what I am talking about. He is definately a breeding type dog for me based on looks alone, and he is awesome in work. I think you are missing something - this dog is almost three years old now, so he is mature now and the breeding happend just recently. Coming back to your original comment, i am glad Mr. Gobl did this breeding because I am so sold on this breeding that I am buying a puppy from this breeding for a friend. If you don't like the dog, don't breed to him, or wait till he is MATURE. Ajay Singh www.ajaysingh.com
