THE KENNEL Club has announced that 14 of the 30 German Shepherd breed clubs have already signed and returned the undertaking to the KC ahead of the March 31 deadline.
“We thank these clubs and their members for taking this positive step,” the KC said today. “We are in the process of planning a meeting with these clubs and any others that sign the undertaking to discuss the future development of the breed, how to address soundness issues and current KC initiatives into breed health. “We would urge all clubs that wish to take part in this process and to be considered for CCs to sign the undertaking by the deadline.”
The KC said it continued ‘to be dismayed by the tactics of a vocal minority in the breed who, rather than seizing this opportunity for the benefit of the breed, choose to bolster their own interests by suggesting that the KC’s motives are anything other than for the welfare of the breed’.
“To suggest that an organisation that is the single largest contributor to research into canine health in the UK does not have the health of the dog at its heart is nonsensical,” the spokesman said.
“We are also disturbed to note that one club that has signed the undertaking has decided to cancel its scheduled show this year as it fears that those opposed to signing the undertaking will disrupt its show to the detriment of the breed.
“There has been unhelpful speculation that club members who vote against their club signing the undertaking will in some way be prevented from entering shows or taking part in training activities. Again, we have made it clear in its previous statements that this is not the case.
“Similarly, there has been a great deal of speculation about clause nine of the undertaking with some choosing to attach sinister connotations and imply that the KC in some way is attempting to ‘ban’ SV/WUSV events. We have made it clear that no such issue exists. To reiterate, the KC has worked with the GSD community to enable the annual British Sieger Show to everyone’s satisfaction. All requests of a similar nature will of course be considered. What is being asked is that, as a matter of simple courtesy, clubs should work with their UK governing body to gain its support for the organising of any such events.”

Would be helpful if someone with more knowledge than me can post that the 30 clubs voted for the GSDP to represent them with regards to discussing health with the kc and that the KC refused.

The KC which refuses requests to make mandatory health test before registering puppies can only be seen as a money grabbing organisation not an organisation that has health at its heart.

Perhaps the club that has cancelled its show this year has seen the error of its ways in signing the undertaking.

Every member of every club has the right to walk away from any club.

And all of this from the KC (which Sue B  pointed out)  has recently issued a statement regarding the withdrawl of CC's from 2011 not 2012 which they originally stated.

Do we know who the other 13 clubs are ( we already know about BAGSD ) most of them must be Germanic clubs because I cannot think of many alsationist clubs apart from the lornaville one and the gary gray one .
Maybe once we are under the WUSV we can BAN the kc's cronies from entering our shows. Also the 14 are in the right time zone as its about now that Judas was plotting his deeds.

Given the kc's disgraceful treatment of the crufts bob its incredible that anyone who cares the slightest about the breed would sign anything to do with them

Expected as much from bagsd cos their ec is controlled by people with other objectives

Might be others are scared to lose ob cc's

If not it shows v dodgy morals and short term thinking

If  we don't move forward together (through league or similar) with wusv make no mistake they will change breed to their mold in uk

Need to stop talking and start acting- join league (only uk genuine wusv member club!) now!

the clubs listed below are the ones that i know who have signed.gsd club of essex,(straight from the horses mouthShelia at crufts)BAGSD,birmingham and district, south western,SATS(straight from the horses mouth Tracey Wall),gsd club wales, gsd club scotland HOV.Obviously the gsd club of uk,South yorks gsd club.the only ones i know who have not signed are west.yorks.and the league.if ive made any mistake with the ones ive said have signed then i apologise.im not anti kc but do think that their actions are intolerable.we,who have been classed as the small minority only want wots best not just for our own breed but all breeds, and the public, who are the ones who ultimately buy most of our puppies.Come on folks,WAKE UP,cant yu see wots going to happen in the future.you,re being pulled into a false sense of security.they,ve dangled the carrot of challenge certs.in front of your eyes.your frightened arent yu that yu may not sell your puppies.money,money,money.thats all it boils down too.in fact i think it US,who will be ones who are going to have to face the hassle at shows ,not the ones who have voted to sign.where has our pride as a breed gone.DOWN THE PAN WITH ALL THE S...E.cAROLE sPELMAN.

Red,You are correct in what you say.But these clubs who have signed up still want the K.C. freedom to breed and show without having health checks ect ect ect.
So now these clubs should  drop the name GSD. like BAGSD to BAAC.

let me say that you could be digging a grave for the gsd if you dont get away from this MICKY MOUSE CLUB.
Oh easter monday  .

Need to consider harm that KC spiel is doing to Jo Public's perception of our Breed- colleague at work who owns what I perceive to be overweight 3 year old large bull breed that cant breath properly and looks in constant discomfort (with a life expectancy of about 7 years, I am told) said to me that he thought the GSD's at Crufts "were a disgrace" the other day. After I finished pointing out that, despite these perceived problems, my 10 year old GSD was in robust health, still doing bite work and, if he tried to do the same with his dog, it would die of asphyxia, it occurred to me that Jo Public will generally think the same way as he.

Not Good; the KC are doing a lot of damage to our wonderful and versatile breed.
